Only ever watched avatar and samurai jack. Avatar was great.

4 episodes of pure SOUL

Attached: artworks-000045864160-niunxw-t500x500.jpg (500x500, 131K)

manga is pic related
anime is prolly samurai champloo, ghost in the shell stand alone complex or nhk

Attached: chapter_169.jpg (1200x680, 319K)

>Avatar

OP asked manga or anime though

Shion no ou. A Japanese "chess" anime.

Else my favorite trap animes like Mariya Holic or Otome wa boku ni Koishiteru, for nostalgia's sake.

hard to say but gun to my head i would have to say slam dunk. it doesn't introduce worldview changing themes or ideas but i read it when i was very young, out of shape, and lonely. it helped me get interested in basketball and i ended up joining my church team since i wasnt an actual athlete for my school. made a lot of good friends and it helped me lose weight and unironically gain some self confidence. i still reread it once in a while and tear up at the scenes with teamwork and camaraderie and think about how i loved my fellow teammates

yeah sports manga are surely the most inspiring

what are some youve enjoyed? i like realistic sports manga the best. enjoyed eyeshield but it was a bit too shonn for my tastes

I am sorry, what is the distinction? I thought avatar was at least a little bit anime. I do not really know much about it.

Aria (the full series). I watched around 800 titles but this one made me feel like nothing else. Close second is Darker Than Black.

Manga: 20th Century Boys
Anime: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

anime=animation made in japan by japanese people
therefore avator is not an anime

Hajime no ippo was amazing there was also captain Tsubasa when i was younger

Ashita no joe . it's pretty old though

ah that was good too. i enjoy that old artstyle desu and even though the dialogue feels stilted at times i can appreciate the era's differences
hajime no ippo was great too i reread takamuras fight with hawk all the time

Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex S1+2

I used to watch plenty anime for a while but most of it was just killing time. GitS was one of the few shows where I actually cared about the characters, compared to most other shows they felt like they could be actual persons.

Attached: ghost-in-the-shell.jpg (888x480, 54K)

Hunter x Hunter 2011 is a masterpiece. Manga would be Medaka Box

Attached: hxh.jpg (1141x1600, 635K)

I would definitely watch it, if only the show didn't look so goddamn dull and ugly. The 1995 movie and Innocence were great though, maybe I'll read the manga instead.

out of curiosity what do you find ugly? I found the show to look pretty good, especially S2

wow,what a fag
origa

I just watched steins gate and read re-life. Re-life was extremely good

Shirobako made me stop hating women and inspired me to donate to twitch women art streamers

That was obvious bait anonitto

Half of champloo is kinda boring honestly, half is great though. Bebop is better.

Wjat fuck is so good about jojo I keep seeing mentioned it online and shoehorned into discussion. I never seen it only read the wiki plot but it seems like anime scooby doo

You mean what do I find ugly about it? The actual style is the biggest reason for me. The way the show uses colors contributes to this a lot, and most of the time the linework looks average at best. It just looks very very boring, and often unpolished. This is what I've gathered from a handful of scenes (and the trailer).
>just my opinion desu no hate thanks

Tried 10 eps of original anime, thought it was extremely basic shounenshit personally. I've read that it has good parts later on, but I couldn't continue

The Feelings We All Must Endure
The Love Doctor
Citrus
Fuuka

Bikini Warriors

The finale was terrible. The whale battle was ridiculous, we barely even know the old man character yet we're expected to not laugh at his insanity in slaughtering those whales. And the cult members were copy-pasted over-the-top insane people that were equally ridiculous. Idk what happened to the scythe girl from the beginning, but she was a much better villain. First episodes are the peak

Watching Eva for the first time as a depressed, unassuming 14-year-old was the best (and worst) experience I've had while watching anime.

Initial D first stage battles

There is probably a heavy nostalgia factor since it was the first manga I ever read, but GTO always creates warm feelings in me

Attached: tumblr_nhoid5ZtlP1sadmhmo1_500.jpg (500x547, 116K)

also I loved Cromartie High School

Attached: 532132862.png (640x480, 256K)

Steins;Gate. It gives me hope that even the most delusional of spergs can one day win at the end. A rare whitepill in this blackpilled world.

Attached: 91jY1SQauvL._SY606_.jpg (429x606, 60K)

wish I watched it that early on. I had the same effect at 22

Zeta Gundam and War in the Pocket were pretty impactful for me.

For me it's Dorohedoro - intelligent, nihilistic and with a wicked sense of humor.

Attached: received_772375523133828.png (264x505, 151K)

Not him but I watched it because killua is a cute shota

unironically made me want to be ateacher as a naive teen reading this. now i look back and realize holy shit onizuka was 22 in the manga and my friends are teachers now. im a 28 yo boomer and missed my boat

I'm reading this right now, fuckin agreed. I am a Hero is my current favourite though.

Anime-Akira
Manga-Beatless

Db/z subbed in chronological order

Attached: A8E4B4EB-82D8-4C82-BDB6-08ACBA889D14.png (1334x750, 1.56M)

Rosario+vampire.
Anime was garbo compared.

Attached: 2b0defe8942e5d5d1d86b287fad4a0072a20ae13_00.jpg (300x169, 16K)

It was animated in japan lol.

YKK, but the 1998 OVA series. I will aboard the manga in a time...

Out of everthing I've read there are only two series I would rate as 10/10, Ashita no Joe and Sanctuary. Despite that my favourite manga of all time is still Fist of the North Star.

For anime I'd say movie wise it would be Akira, OVA wise it would be Giant Robo and series would probably be Space Adventure Cobra, although the series I've rewatched the most is probably Moyashimon.

Attached: x1.jpg (1954x1507, 1.07M)

Kaiji. I LOVE IT

akagi

Attached: 1549832509537.png (321x484, 74K)

I regret that they did not make an animated serie in the same style as the 98 OVA , the ambience was so unique , pure gold . I've never experienced that feel before

Attached: 118172.jpg (225x350, 40K)

probably Homunculus, that shit was amazing and very robot

did you play the VN?

great taste origignially

Nah mate, you can still make it. It only takes a few years in college, and if you already have a degree, it's just a 1-2 year addition. I believe in you

Anime: Bubblegum Crisis. It was my first and the reason i got into anime. I still rewatch it sometimes or just listen to the OST.
Manga: Gunnm. Pretty much the same deal. The (well worn) manga i bought nearly two decades ago still have a place of honor on my bookshelf.

Attached: bubblegum-crisis-1.jpg (500x711, 346K)

Probably Chobits, NHK or Planetes.
I can't decide.

Attached: planetes.jpg (1024x768, 351K)

>Planetes
I watched this a few years ago and enjoyed it, couldn't stop feeling like it was a cheap version of eva though. But the first 10 or so episodes were comfy.

Yomigaeru Sora

The first 20 episodes were the best, however the ending was really not that good and you could tell, like with Eva, that they rushed it. I view Planetes and Eva as the same in terms of how good they were though.

Kino no Tabi.
These are also incredible:

Attached: 1547174871463.jpg (1000x1000, 583K)

i love ykk!! its probably my favorite and most treasured manga.

my favorite anime is probably the tatami galaxy. it came at a really important, difficult time in my life and, as cheesy as this sounds, filled me with hope for the future. it has beautiful animation and art and i cannot recommend it enough

Attached: 699FC821-017B-4372-9737-E875BBC8198A.jpg (1920x1080, 139K)

That's exactly why it's so good

Evangelion. It genuinely depresses me that I will never be able to watch it for the first time ever again. I never get emotional but somehow evangelion managed to fuck with me

Also watamote just because it hits so close to home for me. Tomoko is one of the only characters I have ever been able to relate to.

i feel you on tomoko and relatability. watched watamote right after a break up and she kept me going, as pitiful as that sounds.

Late reply but I do feel like it made me a kind of an outcast. It was just too relatable, felt like the show was made for me yknow? I was very similar to Shinji, same age, had an abusive dad, no mom, etc.

but the show was supposed to uplift you by its end, user. congratulations.

The last 2 episodes couldn't salvage me, but I still loved the ending. I know many hate it, but I thought it was indeed uplifting, and fitting as well.
>nowadays i relate more to rei though

>never watched anime before
What would you guys recommend I watch??
Big anime tiddies +
Cute anime girls doing cute things ++

Samurai Champloo, I never hear it talked about ever on any board, and it really makes me sad.

Peak comfy, I say.

It has very interesting and complex character psychology, takes awhile to build up though.
It's still a good thing because the later episodes would fall apart without the foundation set from the beginning

haibane renmei is pretty good. follows through the whole way with really amazing worldbuilding. great style. i'm not sure that it's the best, but there are none like it, that much is certain.

Attached: hbrm.jpg (640x486, 137K)

manga Blade of the Immortal/Akira
Anime NHK

Attached: manji.png (295x606, 163K)

i liked hajime no ippo the manga the most its about a boxer and made me enter the sport

Haibane Renmei
Trigun
Mob Psycho 100

I rewatch it every year or so. Always something new to think about and notice.

I'm a simple guy who liked Cowboy Bebop a lot. I'll probably watch it again in a couple years when I've forgotten. Still keep some of the soundtrack on my phone.

faggot watch the 2011 anime, all others are irrelevant

if i watched the anime first will the manga still be enjoyable?

DBZ Kaiwas the first anime I ever started to watch, and it was when I was a kid.

I only recently start watching other anime because I fell for the meme of "all anime is trash and for sickos". Boy, was I wrong.

I started with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood after reading the first one or two volumes of the manga. Real good shit. Really made me think and feel and all this other stuff all kino media is supposed to make you do.

After that was One Punch Man. Another wild and beautiful ride from start to finish.

Now I'm watching Yu Yu Hakasho. The tournament arc is almost over, and damn, the last few eps leading up to finals were a fuckin rollercoaster.

I am also watching MHA, which is the first anime I'll admit has not been 100% kino.

Thank you for reading my blogpost. What other anime should I watch?

Attached: gucci.png (540x406, 253K)

It's western anime

YYH is probably my all time favorite anime since I watched it on AS when I was a wee lad. I bought the series on bluray a few years back and rewatched it and can confidently say it still holds up.

truly an unique experience

Perfect Blue and Lain
God bless my ex for showing them to me

every so often an user post the lyrics of the opening in a thread. been here for years it seems. maybe try to discuss it with him

I Want to Eat Your Pancreas.

Watched the anime in the theater last week and read the manga immediately afterwards. I know the movie got a bit of mixed reviews, but it hit me extremely hard. I've been in a daze since watching it and bottomed out mood wise. It's not difficult to find anime easy to relate to since the MC usually is made to be a self insert. That was the case here, too, but what made it hit me so hard is that the MC got to experience something I've always wanted and then it wasn't his to keep for very long.

Death note!

Truly one of the most intelligent shows I've ever seen.

Dragon Ball Super/Z
Code Lyoko
Angel Beats
Your Lie in April
Tokyo Ghoul S1
Steins Gate
Anohana

Evangelion, but only because I watched it at the right moment in my life.

Attached: R E I.jpg (480x480, 58K)

>because I watched it at the right moment in my life.
doesn't everyone?

Casual fans and those who dislike it don't.

i guess you're right. some people just don't get the message.

Either Slayers or Patlabor.

Probably the original Dragon Ball or Kill La Kill. I had a lot of fun with both.

Attached: aaaaa.gif (387x308, 225K)

Sorry for the late response, but absolutely. In fact it'll be much much better. Let's just say after the part with the demon Fox dude everything is different. I highly recommended reading it. It's all on manga Panda or one of those sites but I'd actually advise buying it cuz you know support the manga and whatever.

Attached: 1549304763734.gif (268x150, 398K)

Monster. Fucking Monster is phenomenal, and is what made me get into anime as a medium.

>ctrl + f
>no one has said goodnight punpun yet
I know its overrated in a lot of peoples eyes but this shit rattled me to my core at certain parts. I think all robots would understand punpun and think its a great story, it just doesnt seem to have much exposure

Attached: punpunprofilepic.png (175x201, 32K)

Evangelion and Texhnolyze
Also Haibane Renmei, and the Disappearance of Haruhi

The Climber

bara bara roboto
