As a science student I've always hated philosophy since it doesn't appear scientific at all and creates more questions than answers - it's just pointless coffee table mumbling like "how do u know dat stairs don't turn into jelly when ur not lookin?"
But what if the deeper I dig into atoms and math I find out that there's really nothing tangible there, just a thought? What if the universe and existence itself is just a thought? First you think matter is made of atoms and subatomic particles, then you dig deeper and find out shit like electric charges and wave functions for electrons. Then you start thinking about 1-dimensional strings of energy and realize energy itself is just a fuckin' mind game and that's all there is.

The order of abstractness
>carpenter doing woodworking >industrial wood processing >biochemistry that studies wood >physical chemistry that studies the elements in wood and their atoms >particle physics that studies subatomic particles >quantum physics that uses theoretical math to explain what we can't observe >theoretical math that precedes quantum research >theoretical philosophy that studies what it means for anything to exist in the first place >??? send help
Guess how I can tell you know jack shit about philosophy?
Blake Cook
Is this another philosophical trick question?
Fuck you philosophers, get a real job
Ayden Jenkins
>tfw you've ascended beyond ??? tier
Josiah Miller
>all philosophy is Rene Descartes
Gabriel Long
It's because your examples are utter nonsense that you've invented to paint a mental picture of what philosophers actually do.
Dominic Green
the truth is, you're stupid OP- you should have read more books. you should have pondered stuff some more. now it's too late. you're a retard for life.
Ian Adams
Also just realised it says philosophy is unscientific, big lul right there. Science is a subset of philosophy, not the other way round.
Adrian Allen
psst you will t. mathfag who studied math in graduate school, realized OPs fears, and then switched to philosophy
Jonathan Bennett
actually that's a lie I didn't realize exactly OPs fears, but more that academic research in math (and computer science) is becoming less and less reliable and legitimate. it's easy to publish garbage papers which is most often what ends up happening. at least in philosophy people try to be rigorous (depending on which area you study)
Chase Cox
just become a logical positivist and you won't have to worry about this
Michael Perez
This is like telling someone to become a flat earther so they dont have to worry about gravity
William Robinson
It's fun to discuss. But if you think it's an actual science or even remotely related to any hard concrete science then there are some news for you.
Owen Roberts
yeah loser philosophers, get a real job. be a NEET like this guy.
Chase Lee
Everything exists in a spectrum Neither good nor bad, hot nor cold, old nor young, big nor small. The information contained on human minds is what matters. Most of that relates to the real world. A lot of it relates to fake things like movies video games and such. But the information exists.
Leo Bailey
yes but "reality" is just built upon a linear existance of nothingness, every single thing in the universe is the same exact thing just transformed by combinations
Luis Ortiz
Most humans can barely percieve anything in the real world. They're confused by their own emotions and bias. These people are normies. Their IQ's are low and they do all the reproducing of our species.
Easton Clark
That's because most humans can only think in giant conglomerate terms. Terms like successful, profit margin, dating range, likeability and such. It takes a large amount of effort to think about smaller things.
The most interesting thing about the universe is the observer effect. That is that every time you observe a particle, it changes. I dont understand this well enough to explain it to you clearly, but as far as im aware, this means that on a basic level, there is no inherent structure to the universe. Its all dependent on the observer/subject. Idk what this exactly means, but something about it sounds strange. Some people said its evidence of the simulation theory. To me, it seems like there is almost strange link between the observed object and the observer, outside of the direct link they have.
What we definitely can conclude though, is that materialism is a big sham propagated by insecure egotists like richard faggins who want to feel like they have control over reality.
