There's a hell of a lot more FPS games than counterstrike that never made it to consoles. Consoles got some versions of Doom but they never got the motherlode of all the FPS games that defined the genre.

Everything was slowed down do accomodate the console's controller look speeds. Also the player was given a regenerating safety net to keep them from taking too much damage.

On PC games, you could hold upwards of 10 guns at once, as all you'd need to do to switch to them was scroll the mouse wheel or press a number key. In halo though, you can hold a max of 2 guns to make it easier to switch between them.

Then there's the multiplayer aspect. Some games had 64 vs 64 players but this was way too much for console so I think it was limited to something like 4 players (?) max in Halo 1 and it wasn't even online.

There are plenty of shooter games with 2 gun limits now, I wonder if they just followed suit or if there's a reasoning behind designing it that way past realism. Maybe multiplayer combat is bland when you can pick up and hold anything and everything?

Actually think about what holding 10 guns at once in Halo would do. Imagine if someone walked around with a rocket launcher, sniper rifle, BR, AR, needler, spartan laser, sword, and shotgun. It would be retarded outside of party custom games

The two weapon limit doesn't really "oversimplify" things, it forces you to make a conscious decision about what you're holding and encourages teamwork by cycling weapon spawns and delegating guns to the teammates who use them best. Halo has a metagame and mechanics on par with any other shooter out right now

On top of that even if you think the gameplay is objectively bad to say that there's no demand might be one of the most braindead things I've ever seen on this site. There's something about CSGO I just find repulsive for some reason but I cant quite describe it; I only have 80 hours on that compared with 800+ on six siege and 200 on cs source (back in 2008). I don't know if it's the focus on esports, the graphics/presentation, the maps, the focus on skins, etc but I can't stand more than 2 matches on that even with friends

It's essentially a slower Quake. There is a dearth in the market for a decent arena-type shooter. Additionally there is the nostalgia factor.

It's what I'd rather play at the moment. There's not much on the market in terms of an arena shooter at the moment, at least that are popular. Modern military shooters, military sims, battle royale, etc I've never particularly enjoyed comparatively.

With the anniversary editions you can change between the old graphics and remastered ones.

Halo 1-3 is a majestic story and wonderful multiplayer experience. It being ported to PC where it will be spread and live on for the future brings immense joy to my heart.
