Regarding the last one, both my grandmothers were named Margaret, but I think the French version sounds more elegant.

I suppose I could have just called her whatever I wanted but I was just a kid myself and handed a baby and told her name so I didn't have the sense to do any different. Typically we just use her nickname though, said like "Leah".
