The goal with beginner programming is to get you maximum gains from minimal time investment, ideally once you see this progress and develop a decent base you can then branch out into other routines. To be frank it doesn't matter a flying fuck once you've been lifting for a while what routine you do as long as you lift hard, hit every muscle group and don't fuck your joints.

strength training, if you don't compete, is just coping for lack of willpower when it comes to diet it would take to be aesthetic. fact of the matter is if you want to look good the majority of your workout should be in hypertrophy rep range, with only 1-2 sets of your compounds falling into the "strength" range. Anyone who says otherwise is a coping gymcel. The results speak for themselves.

Consistency to a large extent. Lots of dumb jock types have been lifting since they were like 13 and playing football or some shit so lifting naturally became part of their lifestyle. You take a /sig/ incel who started lifting at 19 and by 23 he's been lifting for like four years with a strict routine but more likely then not, suboptimal sleep habits and maybe not much cardio or who knows what else. Meanwhile Chad, the former highschool QB has been lifting for ten years by 23 and probably sleeps really well and doesn't have a ton of anxiety and mental issues fucking with his hormones. He also has been playing sports so he likely has a more balanced physique

If you play sports at a good enough level most of your lifts will be compound and strength focused. This is anecdotal but being part of a state level lacrosse and football team we had lifting programs and coaches that made us do mainly compounds to get a base and we could stay after and do accessories. But yeah I think the constant physical activity and regularity of practice and lifting for years is what does it

I was going to post something similar. Most of my bodybuilding friends have always had girls or sports on their mind. They grew up competing in sports doing pushups and pullups and shit probably did 1 million crunches before ever joining a gym at 18. Meanwhile strength training guys are relatively fresh to fitness starting from 0 and did a bunch of research prior to working out. Or also a lot of people getting into strength training at least recently get inspired by the big veteran lifter whos been at the gym for a decade and is big and strong simultaneously .

Apart from my biceps I consider myself big and aesthetic enough, so that's why I thought of picking up pure strenght training. I don't feel the immediate urge to gain much muscle and just want to preserve it, while remaining lean and strong.

It would be weird if his physique wasn't more advanced than mine, especially considering he leads a healthier lifestyle even outside the gym. I'm not salty, this is just how time works. If you move on something earlier you'll have better results than those who did it later.
