Lifting/Diet in Asia

American chub moving to Taiwan for at least one year. I'm probably about 30 pounds over weight. 6'1 200 pounds.

What Asian food is going to give me the most gains? I believe meat is retarded expensive over there but I'm not really sure. Maybe that's Japan? I don't think noodles and rice alone will give the gains I desire.

What are the gyms in Taiwan really like? Do people actually go to gyms?

I'll be a white boy in Asia so I'll already be towering over these mf's but I want my biceps to be the size of their sad little faces.

chicken/fish/pork as protein since cow meat is expensive, rice for carbs

God I hate Taiwanese food.

What's wrong with it? Do you like any Asian style food?

Best bet might be supplementing with whey

I do. But I stopped over in Taiwan on my way to Japan and I was hella hungry. So I ordered a "Light" meal. No way was it light. Anyway I got food poisoning from it.

Basically just be careful with their meal sizes.

Are the meal portions massive? Compared to America?! I believe Taiwanese food is about the as Chinese food but cleaner/safer.

I've gotten food poisoning in every asian country I went to, except Japan. Those mf's don't play around.

200lbs is overweight at 6’1?
I feel ”normal” at 220lbs 6’3

Frame size can vary your ideal/lean weight

I think I'm suppose to be around 180 pounds. I haven't worked out in a month so I feel like fat worm right now.

They can be. You just gotta watchful. Also its hella cheap to eat over there.

it is if you never worked out

Taiwanese Gyms look pretty fucking cool desu

I'll be spending my first couple months in Bangkok where food is so cheap its basically pocket change. Not sure how the prices compare with Taiwan, but I'm sure its all cheaper than US prices.

I know some of them look too futuristic and flashy though.

I’ll be Living in Japan for 2 years. What can i eat here? Ramen, fried chicken, rice and all the carbs here are no good for diet.

I was just in Japan. Tbh you might have to change your diet. Beef is expensive as Hell and on top of rent, you gotta have money money to eat that shit every day. I'd say your best bet is Sea food, if you don't like sea food, you're gonna have a bad time.

Im not a picky eater but besides that eating in an American Base doesnt seem ideal either since its mostly either fatty cholesterol food or a lot of sugary shit.

Oh you're staying in the military base? I'm sure there's some decent options there, especially if its free. Other than eating a fuck ton of fish, idk what to tell you.

I'm a white guy living in Korea who went to Taiwan for a week on vacation. There are cheap government run gyms with all the equipment you'll need (barbells, power cages, benches, etc.). The one I went to only had two cages and one bench. I ended up working in with three other guys on the bench, but they fucked off after they realized I was putting up real weight and they got tired of stripping the plates off each set. Stuff is a little cheaper in general. Milk is a bit more expensive. Meat is more expensive comparatively speaking than it is in America, but grocery store food in America is pretty damn cheap when you're talking about developed countries.

Some people go to gyms. I saw at least one roided out guy at the gym. He'd do a set, stop, and 'mire himself in the gym. Overall, I'm not a fan of Taiwan. The women are pretty fucking ugly as far as asians go. Overall, I'm not a big yellow fever guy so if you have a fetish you might think differently. Compared to Japan and Korea, Taiwan is pretty underwhelming. Lots of prostitutes and a surprising amount of weird Japanese pornography. Not a bad country but I can't imagine why any westerner would want to live there when there are so many better options nearby.

Oh, and it's pretty easy to mog the local population just about anywhere in Asia. I'm 6'3'', 215 lbs, and 15% bf and I mog 99.99% of the people I encounter on a daily basis. It's a little cool at first but the novelty quickly wears off.

So far i figured i’d eat chicken breast and steamed potatoes, eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast, some beef and rice every once in a while or some type of fish. But mostly trying to stay in the straight and narrow, im not a connoisseur but i do like trying exotic foods

I actually have a wide range of countries I can live in, like Thailand, Vietnam, etc.I was told Taiwan is a great place and it's a 1st world country. I don't really give a fuck about living in some big ass cyberpunk mega city like Tokyo or Beijing. It's cool to look at but after awhile its just like get me tf out of here god dammit. South Korean look fake as Hell to me, so pretentious. They get cosmetic surgeries as high school graduation gifts. Thats fucked. Taiwanese women just seem like Chinese women except with manners. Idk though, I guess we'll find out.

Shrimps have a very good protein to calorie ratio, i would look into squid and octopus too

>I was told Taiwan is a great place and it's a 1st world country.

It's like a 1.5 world country. Developed but not nearly as developed as Japan or S. Korea. It's not a terrible place, just not as good as Northeast Asia imo (including Shanghai- that city is fantastic).

I'd do Taiwan ahead of Vietnam or Thailand personally, but that's because I fucking hate tropical places and heat. White people weren't designed to live near the equator.

Also, I wouldn't knock S. Korea so easily. It's a hard place to live as a native, but as a foreigner you get to reap all the benefits of having a hardworking, intelligent, beauty conscious population without having to conform to the insane social pressure.

For the work I'm doing, SK is over saturated and I'm being told its miserable for foreigners now. Plus, I don't really give a fuck about South Korea. If someone hands me a job over there, I might take it, but I'm probably not going to look for one.

I would like to go to Shanghai but getting a work visa to China takes months.I also don't have an employer in China that is willing to apply a work permit for me. Taiwan is the easiest 1st world country to get into. Pay is good, rent/food is cheap, people are nice, etc. I'll hopefully learn some Chinese while there and then make the jump to China, maybe Shenzen or something.

Japan sounds alright, not really sure if I like the Japanese people or not. They can barely speak English and I'm not about to study my ass to learn a language thats only spoken on one island ion the planet.

Hong Kong sounds fucking awesome but hella expensive and HK might not even exist next year

Yeah, go with Taiwan. I like South Korea and I have a really comfy set up rn (better than average paying job, a nice apartment in a great neighborhood) but the current trade war with Japan has weakened the won and made it tougher to remit and invest. What type of work are you in?

How can you be 90 kilos and be overweight? I am 90 kilo and like 16 percent body fat. Seems weird

As much as I'd like to lie and say I'm some genius programmer or business man, I'm taking the leap as a TEFL (Teaching English as Foreign Language) teacher. I know that probably sounds lame as Hell. The current job I have now (Manager/Night Shift/Cargo Airplanes/Bull Shit Union Employees) just isn't cutting it anymore. I want to travel and I'm a white guy that speaks English so this is my best opportunity before I get old and have kids or some shit.

If I learn Chinese fluently, I could probably get a hell of a job in California or some West Coast state whenever I decide to return. That's my thinking anyway.

Idk I guess I just feel fat as fuck compared to how I use to be. My job got really shitty an I stopped working out, started smoking cigs and eating like shit and now I feel like a bloated worm just larding around everywhere.

Huh, I'm an English teacher too. It's an underrated gig. The hate we get is retarded. It's important and enjoyable work. The important thing is to have a good attitude about it all. Anyways, historically Korea has been one of the better markets for teaching English but it's not so hot these days. I hear Vietnam is pretty good. Wherever you go, enjoy it. It's a great experience.

Ah, you might be better off cutting down while lifting compound. You need to eat at a surplus to really put on muscle. Just lift compound 3x a week with cardio after lifting or on off days. Then make sure to eat about 200 calorie deficit

I've been hearing a lot about Vietnam but can it really be that good?! Whats so good about it?

it's cheap and an amazing travel destination

specially if you have a licence for cave diving

>Taiwan
Boy go to any night market and you're bound to see one of pic related.
Butterfly chicken breast, juicy, tasty, spicy, what the fuck else do you need for mad proteins?
>Lots of prostitutes and a surprising amount of weird Japanese pornography.
These mother fuckers go crazy for JAV, literally people will wait at the airport if they know a JAV actress is coming.

I'm visiting again next week.

Another option is to go to those places where you just pick the ingredients you want and they'll cook it for you.
>slices of your choice of meat
>add some green shit
>pick a type of noodle for carbs
You're set.

The amount you can earn vs. living expenses. At this point, it's probably more lucrative for an average entry level teacher to go there than Korea. Personally, the climate and third world level of living is a turn off for me but if your goal is to come back to America with some cash saved up, it'd probably be your best bet in East Asia after mainland China (and I've heard a ton of horror stories about China). Of course, if you have some special qualifications you could make a bit more elsewhere. Also, I hear the gulf states pay well but fuck living with camelfucking sandniggers.

Just because its cheap doesn't mean I'll get paid a lot.

Also, this might sound retarded but, did you bring your PC (if you have one)? I just bought this nice ass gaming PC a few months ago and I'm debating on selling it or trying to package it up and taking it with me.

How much does something like that cost in Taiwan?

holy fuck that looks amazing!! I think im going to get some asian lunch today.

Yeah UAE pays really well but you need to have a lot of experience. Haven't heard to many good stories about those places. They will never respect you because you are a Westerner but the pay is good so fuck it. Maybe my last year I will try to work there, save some money and fuck off . out of there.

i have an ok midtier notebook that i took with me when travelling. big ass 2kg notebook.

In my understanding you are in a new country, so i didn't want to stay rolled up in my room playing games, all i did was download DBZ and a ps1/snes emulator with a handful of games plus an old ps3 controller that i could play when i wasn't out with friends or just walking around

Or you can just go full beef too.

Less than 100 NT so less than 3 USD.
>PC
What will you be using it for? If you're just using it for Jow Forums then sell it and get a laptop. Once you're in Taiwan (I'm thinking Taipei?) I suggest hanging out in cafes or coworking spaces, great way to meet people.

Taiwan hands my favorite in terms of food.

Attached: 3.jpg (754x996, 128K)

I'm trying to justify bringing the PC by "I'll be playing with people who are speaking Chinese so I'll learn the language faster" Not sure if that's total bull shit or not though.

I have a 2016 MacBook Air that I bought for school. Its not really good for anything except YouTube and Jow Forums. I'd be using the gaming PC to play games an shit not really sure.I figured maybe I'll play with Chinese speaking players and I'll learn the language faster.

I also just bought this thing for about $1500 and I know if I sell it I'd be lucky to get $1000.

Places like Taiwan, Korea and Japan, prepare to work your arse off and work a tonne of overtime. Where as in Vietnam, Cambodia and China you coast by, work a few hours a week and basically do nothing on good wage in relation to thr cost of living. However prepare fucked by everyone if it goes wrong.

it's bullshit. The pc is your confort zone, you are trying to bring it with you and you'll end up spending most free time in your room playing games instead of outside actually making friends and socializing, because it's much easier to do that

>Taiwan hands my favorite in terms of food.
Fuck, hands down. No cannibalism going on here.
Last one since my mouth is getting watery now, can't wait for two more days until I stop by again.

I suggest you kick video games out (unless you're playing really casually and by that I mean you can't last playing a game for more than an hour).
You're in a new place man, literally get out.
>take laptop with you to a cafe and spend 4 hours there, hoping you'll get to socialize.
>bike around town
Taipei is super bike friendly, and you can even rent one by the hour using the same card you use for their MRT.
Speaking of the MRT
>take the train to go everywhere
Their rail road will take you anywhere, there's one high speed line that will take you to the southern most city in just 2 hours.

Attached: 4.jpg (746x983, 134K)

You're probably right. I guess I should just sell it and take whatever the financial loss is. I'll probably have some kind of anxiety attack or something lol

FUCK, you're right.

Idk if I'll be living in Taipei, we'll see. I was thinking about Tainan. I was told there is always work there no matter what time of year. Apparently in Taipei it is hard to find work as an English teacher in November.

You are going to have horizontal eyes OP

Will this be the first time you're alone in a foreign country, and to make it even worse, a place where everyone speaks an alien language?
It's fine if you get scared, just power through it. Worst case scenario go ahead and fuck a hooker, they're not really legal there but it is very easy to find one (skimpy clothing, and will always carry a tiny handbag).

The city is also surrounded by mountains, so you'll have lots of places to hike in.
>Tainan
I can't help you much outside Taipei, though next week I'll be in Tainan, I only know that food there is better than Taipei. It's not that hard to find people who can at least on some level communicate in English in Taipei, also, you will run into westerners/caucasians daily in Taipei, but I don't know what's it like in Tainan.
God speed user, hopefully we both get what we want. Pic related, if everything goes well I'll be working in this building.

Attached: 5.jpg (2843x3789, 1.85M)

Maybe we'll cross paths and never realize it. Good luck to you kind sir, stay frosty.

>a fatty whose main concern is food
Like pottery
Anyway OP im in taiwan rn and while 6’1 is definetly tall here ive seen more than 1 taiwanese men here well up to 6’3 too so youre not gonna be some monstrosity.

Taiwan is despicably hot in the summer mate, close to unbearable.
>The women are pretty fucking ugly as far as asians go.
This is true 95% of the taiwanese chicks are dogshit ugly 4% are just alright, but the hot 1% are really stunning tho.

Taiwanese food is pretty good and cheap with added benefit of generally being cleaner/safer than food on the Chinese mainland. You'll have a pretty good range of seafood and meats to choose from with pork and fish being the most popular. Can't really speak on the gyms, though based on my instagram feed a lot of young Taiwanese are starting to lift.

>I'll be a white boy in Asia so I'll already be towering over these mf's
6'1" would definitely be on the far end of the bell curve but you'll see young guys around your height regularly. I'm around your height at 184cm and maybe every 1 in 20 guys were my height or taller when I was in Taipei, average is probably 5'8" for guys in their 20s.

well I guess it's a good thing I'm not moving to Taiwan so I can meet women lmao

towering over everyone was a joke. I know there are tall asians everywhere. I'm hyped and nervous at the same time about living across the planet.

I'm a foreign guy in Taiwan.
You'd spend on average 4-5 USD per meal (the ordinary kind).

>prostitutes
Where in Taipei? Are they any good? Will I get in trouble with the law because I've heard this stuff is illegal.

taiwanese chicks are cute, educated and civilised, everything chinese girls wish they were

ignore the haters, you can do well out of tefl if you put your head down.

What do you mean I can do well if I keep my head down? Anything I should look out for?
