This is truly troubling. When will JRPGs be mainstream?

probably never desu, they;re not accessable like call of duty or fortnite is
Talking about your favourite grinding spot is just as relatable as your favourite map r-right?
Neptunia and persona(only p5) are pretty popular
I've never played a Persona game before. I never got the appeal because I read VNs, isn't it just like that but with dungeon crawling?
Are you gay, Jeanne poster? You sound pretty gay.
The dungeon part takes like 30% of the whole gameplay, imo
The most appeal of it is social interactions
If you're ever interested, you can play p3p by using ppsspp, but you better have a gamepad
How does gayness sound exactly?
I've heard 3 is a must play so I'd try that for sure, VN's work best on computers imo. Some VN's I've played these recent years have had irritating dungeon crawling involved, I assumed they were trying to pander persona-wise.
IDK You don't sound like the manliest guy exactly. Which kinda reads as gay.
I liked the 3rd part the most in terms of the plot/drama, I remember crying at a few moments too, plus it has my absolute fav girl
Do you mean dungeon crawler like in the pic? I mean, one step is one circle
They've been 3d since the 3rd part, and they're kinda different, 3rd one is an actual dungeon crawler and 4 and 5 are more like going from point A to point B, 3rd part had LOTS of plain floors, 4 had less floors, but they were big and unique and 5 is just big areas
I prefer playing stuff like pic related on portable consoles, same with vns cause my attention span is too short, but it should not be the case if the game's good
True enough, I'd love a male partner to lean on and enjoy the world with. We'd support each other in the ways only we could.
How many hours would you say are needed to invest in such a story?
>Do you mean dungeon crawler like in the pic?
Yes! I've played vns with some tedious gameplay like that... I assume it's better with the original.
4 and 5 sound more satisfying members to the franchise, looking outside from the in. I assume 4 was a console exp for you.
>When will JRPGs be mainstream?
hopefully never because the more mainstream something gets the more shit it gets. The vast majority cannot handle games like Nier Automata because its way over the average normies head even though its really not difficult to understand. If they had to cater to massive amounts of people games like that would simply not be made.
It used to be mostly sports games that the meat heads retards played so it was fine. Then Call of Duty 4 released and brought a bunch of dude bro casuals into the genre and ruined it. Now gaming in general is more popular so we have feminists whores running around screaming about how horrible it is to have attractive women because they are threatened by pixels. They want gaming to be like movies and t.v where everything is design by committee garbage aimed at the lowest common denominator starring nothing but ugly mutts.
Hmm, I would say at least 50 hours? Probably more if it's your first time
Nah, the dungeons there are made in 3d style even if the portable version of the third part is vn-styled
All of the persona games are playstation/nintendo exclusives, I played the 3rd one on psp, the 4th one on vita and the 5th on ps3, I mentioned the third part in the first place because you can emulated psp pretty easily nowadays. If you have enough dedication, you can try emulating ps2 and play p4 too
Hah! I clocked the Jeanneposter. You lil fag. You sound cute enough tho
This guy is 100% right. The worst thing you could ever wish on your favorite hobby or genre in said hobby is for it to become mainstream.
>The vast majority cannot handle games like Nier Automata
Is that really true? I've seen cosplayers adore it, DEEP people adore it for the plot and just gamers in general put it on the same level as Dark Souls.
>Hmm, I would say at least 50 hours?
And people said the Fate Franchise was time intensive...
That sounds like the quality is increidble compared to other Vns however. I'm jealous of Atlus or whoever does things.
Please don't belittle me, I think I'm a pretty okay person.
Orig
I was only being playful Jean. (I'm gonna call you Jean now btw). I don't think any less of you because you're gay.
Well, it's actually more than that, I'm sure I've spent more on each game, but that's because I completed them in the new game+ mode too, they're pretty damn long, I've spent a month playing p5 after uni when I just bought it
I didn't mean to be melodramatic, if you like Love Live you're a nice person.
I actually feel angry there's agoogle.com
You top or bottom though?
I would not say it's nowhere near as deep (although the personas you summon represent different historical/myth people and creatures like hero spirits in fate) but it's still pretty funny because I didn't get to have any fun back in school
Unfortunately, it is not, because normies lack the time, concentration or enthusiasm to grind games, they want fast progression and action and sequences.
Plus the anime aesthetic of jrpgs is another obstacle, while a decent amount of normies is getting into Chinese cartoons, most still associate it with no-lifers who worship childish looking 2d girls for their lack of social skills.
Since you already have big, western rpgs, there's no need to branch out to the anime flavored ones unless you like anime to begin with.
Not necessarily, a map is something everyone sees regardless of skill. Only those well versed with jrpgs/rpgs will know about those (or they'll just look it up.)
And to answer your main question. JRPGs will probably never be mainstream. JRPGs and RPGs in general require a lot of commitment and knowledge (that goes double for MMOs,) most people just want something easy to pick up and play. So most people just go for games that are easy to play but hard to master.
But honestly, it's probably for the best that way. Do you really want normies to indulge then inevitably ruin your passion for these games?
