Just follow your passion

>just follow your passion
>do what makes you happy

has there ever been a bigger hoax in human history?

>doing what makes you happy is a hoax
>all i got was happiness instead of money
>i should be getting lots of money, because money totally isn't a hoax

>he cares more about having a hoax than being happy
Wait, so are you a virgin or something?

You don't believe this because you've never experienced it. You've simply not accomplished anything meaningful in your life, don't blame yourself though, obviously.

Are you another "I like drawing so I thought I could make money as an artist" idiot? I know 3 in a friend group, and it's honestly quite sad. They're deluding themselves in to thinking they won't have to work a real job.
My advice; develop new skills and you may find something practical you are passionate about.

drawing is for furries and faggots
americans get out

>do what makes you happy
>end up homeless because what makes you happy doesn't make money

What is your passion then?

sitting on my ass and drink

Raising spoiled retards who are only happy consuming is a tragedy, but it cleans up the gene pool.
I was happy developing things for the biotech industry. My wife is happy painting. Life is a comedy, not a tragedy for us

That's a lack of passion.

what a bunch of bullshit. Life is neither exclusively happy nor sad. In life you have to take them both.

Its a generalization but I can honestly claim that my job makes me happy.
Drinking at bars and joking with friends and traveling are objectively more fun, but those things are elevated when I have money.

Its also fun to be an asshole to people who only enjoy so called free time, dont make a job out of the things they like or dont like anything productive, and complain about the economy like it was designed to spite them.

life is one big hoax then you die from cancer

If drinking at bars and traveling are more fun then I can assess that your job is shit

I didnt ask you to take my job retard

>tell dad I'm thinking of changing majors so I can make more money
>"just do what you love and the money will come"
>tell him I'm actually passionate about history and would love to teach it
>he shuts the fuck up

Teaching can make plenty of money if you scale how you teach. You can supplement classroom shit with writing interesting books, making videos, or using history and psychology to invest in companies successfully.

Sorry but unless you are renowned in your field or cover a very specific niche this is useless. No-one wants to spend God-knows how much time writing a book which likely won't be published nor even looked at by McGraw-Hill or Wiley or whoever else, no-one wants to make YouTube tutorials that have already been covered by Khan Academy and the milieu of other online tutors out there - and history/ psychology are useless for investment, and behavioral economics which I assume is what you are implying with psychology won't turn you into Warren Buffet. Sorry but it has to be said - you can be a good history teacher and make a good white-collar wage, nothing wrong with that. Don't expect to do much else unless you sleep two hours a day and spend stupid amounts of money and equipment/ soft-ware that will likely cost you more in the end.

The big-bucks historians, at least for more modern subjects, are usually the ones who worked in the policy world before and have the connections and access to get sources that no one else would be able to get to for at least a few decades. At that point victory is guaranteed because you've got no competition and are the first one to sell either the original or revisionist take on the issue.

Historian could be a really comfy living if you were in a serious position of power. Starting as an academic is absolutely hellish. The Ph.D process alone can hollow someone out in no time at all.

What the fuck is that kid on a leash? Isn't that child abuse?
He'll end up on Jow Forums i'm sure.
fucking roasties

my passion addiction is playing wow
guess i would prefer doing something else if i wasn't a depressed shut-in but thats it
and i'm not charismatic and extraverted enough to be a streamer so idk how i could make even a little money out of it although i know a lot about the game since its the object of my autistic focus

>just follow your passion
Is BS, agreed.
>do what makes you happy
They always forget:
>behind closed doors

My passion is to hate Jow Forums. especially this board. I wake up every day to open a bottle of scotch and furiously ridicule reddit-tier threads and comments even though I seldom post anything. So thankyou mom for letting me follow my dream.

It's good advice if your passion is something that can make you money. In my case it isn't

>You've simply not accomplished anything meaningful in your life
Have you? Be specific

I went to uni (best in my state) and graduated. Some people find that meaningful, for me it was a chore

>Tfw someone asks you what you're passionate about

roasties have made it perfectly acceptable to put children on a leash

Some kids need leashes. My retarded little brother would get lost almost every time we went to a store or amusement park. Countless family trips and outtings were ruined because of his autistic need to WANDER AWAY from my fucking family and create a huge scene trying to find him. Retard could have used a leash. I think that's good parenting. Don't want to be on a leash? Don't fucking run away, dumbass

I would assume it is a special needs kid or something

>Some kids need leashes.
no. some parents need to micromanage everything their kids do. Have you ever thought that he might run away from you because you're psychopathic freaks?

this

humans are made to hunt and fuck

we should teach kids to "do what makes them the least miserable" instead

It's good if your kid is mentally retarded, but like most amerimutts, they use it on normal kids because they're lazy and have shit parenting skills.

>has there ever been a bigger hoax in human history?
>You have to study hard and get good grades, user!

Because what makes the individual, or even a small group of people, happy, is likely not good for the larger society. As a result we developed laws, social contracts, economic systems, governments, etc.

Inevitably there are those who won't be able to "make it" in these systems, and they are basically collateral damage.

Not commenting on what is right or wrong, just saying what I see.

t. faggOP's passion is watching porn

Lol no it is because he was a stupid little kid and literally diagnosed autistic by a doctor (he didn't speak until age 4, had to have speech classes, heavy social issues, etc). My mom would use every measure under the sun to try and keep him near us but he'd always wander away, little asshole, she could've used a leash 100%. He's an adult now and still pretty absentminded, probably the tism

Oh wow he was DIAGNOSED by a DOCTOR. what an amazing child. being diagnosed by a doctor of all things. Being defined and labeled. a fucking shooting star.

I remember always running away from my parents as well. because I didn't like their controling clammy fucking hands. Your little brother is the only sane member of your sick twisted family and God I feel sorry for him.

Yes, the holocaust. Damn no-reposts rule.
