I'm trying to take DXM for the first time, a guy I know said to take 50mg, wait an hour, and then if I'm not feeling anything after that take 300 more to first test for enzyme deficiency or whatever. Is this a decent plan? What would I be feeling if I do have the deficiency?

50 is too little, 300 (depending on weight) could be absolutely WAY too much. You should look up the dosage for your weight on erowid, try it, you will either pass the enzyme test or not. If you have the deficiency you will likely just feel drowsy, no head trip. It is rare to have though. Go into the trip expecting good things, get some music or movies set up and have fun
