Nissins seasoning is shit and you're lucky to get half the lid half off the cup before it tears everyway except the way it was supposed to.
Their noodles overcook way too easily too.

Nissin changed their recipe like 5 years or so ago- less salt, no MSG, basically tastes like shit now. I have to add onions sauce to even taste it and I had to eat it a lot for a while. Maruchan is better but nowdays I only buy hot and spicy bowl ramens, at least they have fucking flavoring

In my opinion, what separates the two is the consistency. Nissin is generally more consistently good, whereas Maruchan batches sometimes taste excellent and sometimes taste terrible. It depends on what you value.
Really, though, both are pretty fucking gross after about the third day of eating it in a row.

Your problem there is buying cup noodles. Those things are a fucking scam. Have you ever pulled the brick of noodles out of one? It doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the cup, it looks like pic related. It's tiny, you get half as much as you do out of the packet ones and for twice the price. And whether it's maruchan or nissin, the packet ones also taste a lot better than the cup ones.
In short, stop buying this shit.
