Night work makes you feel fucking rotten, but if you can handle it, do it. Night jobs are easy to get because most people don't want to do it. I threatened to quit when my job wanted me to do a few nights, especially because it was for 0 extra pay. I sperged right out on them and had a right moan.

working nights is great, low pressure and if you are in a customer facing job you don't need to be overly polite to people. Plus you work with some right nutters, I like it a lot.

yep it's the rotating shifts that get you. If you're always on nights you can adjust your lifestyle around it, but if you then have to do a morning shift the week after it's hellish

The thing is, it is very achievable for most people. A couple on a modest salary of 30k each could easily get a mortgage on a 250k house with a modest deposit. That is easily achievable for most people by the time they are 30, and you should be earning a lot more by then. If you are single and a low earner, you re fucked

I don't know about property law in Scotland because it's different to English and Welsh law, but the problem with freehold flats is that it's unclear who is responsible for maintenance of the building itself and that can cause a lot of conflict. Typically you would have a leaseholder owning the leasehold of the flat, and then there would be a freeholder (landlord/management company) who is responsible for maintenance of the shared areas.
