What was so bad about it?

The primary reason to play Classic is to make Rogues and camp scrubs that never played Vanilla to begin with. The forums are going to be flooded with complaints of toxic gameplay when it's working as originally intended.

It's a good game made incredible by the modding community. With mods it's like you can create anything you can imagine with impressive realism. Truly a creator's game.

It's extremely, and I mean extremely unpolished. Millenials will be instantly turned off by it.

Classic WoW was pretty damn good. Things were a lot different back then, but it's kind of a pandoras box situation where once they opened up the doors to certain things there is no going back.

It's a DikuMUD scion. The point of the game is to simulate "progress" on a treadmill where the measurements and steps constantly inflate to make you feel weak again and progress to being "strong" again. Even worse, it has people walking their own treadmills.

It's like a gym. There's a bunch of buffoons thinking they're working out by walking a treadmill that fucks up your gait. As opposed to literally shredding muscle as in weightlifting.

The game is boring as shit and I can't imagine how much glue I would have to sniff in order to make it fun.

I play classic on a private server and all of my guildmates who have played every expansion say that vanilla is by far the best. I quit playing retail in early 2007 so I never played any of the expansions but from reading about them and watching videos, it looks like shit. They made the game too easy, and added all these stupid grindfest achievements. Then I heard about this transmog shit, I don't know which expansion they introduced that, but it's the stupidest shit I've ever seen.

There are countless assets, everything from parking lots to lighthouses, pizza hut... everything you can think of.

If you like designing and creating realistic or concept cities, this game has no equal. With the right mods it's not even a game but more like a modeling software.

It's fantastic. If you liked Sim City up till 3000 or even 4, then you will love this. Cities is what a proper Sim City sequel should have been.

Just for anyone that wants to either try vanilla or play it again at your own pace without having to deal with paying Blizzard you can download and run your own 99% bug free private server.
Google "Light's Hope Bropackv10". It's a repack that, after downloading, takes 3 clicks and 15 seconds start up. Can run your own server, play as GM, set xp rates to 1x or 20x, give yourself any or no gear, set it up to allow other people to play on it or none.
Personally I've got 5 other people I screw around on mine with, some are 1x others are boosted. Will keep me from ever playing legit wow or their upcoming vanilla server again.
