It's not any particular spellcard, it's the way things lead up to the last Hong Meiling boss thingy
I always either lose a life to Cirno's hail spell card or her second stage of non-spell card, which takes away that lovely bomb too
Then I die twice to the minions on stage 3 which means I'm doomed when Hong Meiling's final boss thingy comes because I haven't learned her well yet
If I could just start stage 3 with 3 lives and 4 bombs I would be set to bomb my way through the last Hong Meiling and get the stage for practice.

I use those but something always catches me off guard

Just try not to move around much at hail desu, and hope cirno will stay under ur shots thats all there is to this spellcard desu. For stage 3 you should focus on staying in left or right corner most of the time especially after the midboss part, also give this series a look maybe it will help you desu:

All it takes to get gud at 2hu is just practice desu so if you will be persistent enough you`ll be fine desu

No i can barely get to Sakuya on hard without continues lole. But really starting with hard is pretty masochistic decision, EoSD has like one of the worst stage 4 to 6 bosses when it comes to hard/lunatic so you would be better with switching on normal and trying to 1cc it before attempting hard. Or if you liked the fast paced gameplay try Imperishable Night hardmode, its not as hard as EoSD but just as fun
