Is it bad to stay up for more than 24hrs?

Sometimes I'll skip a night of sleep if I'm working on something or don't feel tired. Do you ever do this? Is it as bad as some people have said it is? I've heard it can alter your brain and mess with your bodies mechanisms. I don't personally feel it's that bad for me.

people are pussies these days, it's fine

I do it too. It's completely fine. Sleep is for the weak.

Try it for 3 days, the hallucinations are really weird

I don't really know

My sleep schedule is horrible. I fall asleep when the sun comes up, and then get up around noon. I get 5-6 hours every night, I haven't gotten 8 hours in months.

Sometimes I just want to sleep for like 4 hours and just get back up and do stuff.

I've noticed there's more noticable bags under my eyes now, but that's about it. They're not even that bad either

Fucking psycho faggot quit the drugs you are beyond fucked how do you not feel tired after 12 hours

yea, i fell for the uni meme and now i do allnighters every now and then

after 24 hs I start to feel irritable and "neurotic", brain works with its reserves, maybe at a 25% of it usual power
would not recommend

you have a nice smile user.

if you permanently fuck up your circadian rhythm you're 198% more likely to become a NEET

I’ve had sleep problems my whole life. I’d say I stay up 24 once a month.

depends on age
I did it a lot throughout my 20s
it does hurt now that I'm in my 30s
but every once in a while I get a bit manic and I just can't sleep...so I don't

I don't really do any crazy drugs man. I don't drink either. I have smoked weed regularly for periods then stopped for periods as well. During either timeframe I can maintain coherent functionality without feeling much of a difference for roughly 36hrs then i need a good slightly extended period of sleep.

Whenever it's 2 AM like right now... The solution is to make soap.

Fun fact that not many people know, what time of the day you were born on affects your circadian rhythm.

This is a good read.

Longest I've been is 40 hours. It's such a strange awesome feeling seeing the sun rise a second time.

Obviously it's bad. A shit ton of studies about it.

you age way worse when you dont get proper sleep

You're underestimating this. Not sleeping properly causes permanent brain issues, fucks up your memory, cognitive processes etc. You are not superhuman try to find a room with as little light as possible and fix your sleeping schedule, you will regret this shit but it'll be too late

Probably do it at least twice a week for work. Feels shitty most nights but I get a good sleep when I can

I do this but extend it an hour each time. Meaning each "day" I go to sleep an hour or two later, wake up an hour or two later, round & round I go. Until the course completes around 2 weeks later.

Seems its some type of circadian cycle disorder, but I'm not blind. How the fuck do I get rid of this?! Been happening for years now after a nightshift job I had.

Tell me more user. General interest.

Don't make a habit of it you'll end up with fibromyalgia

humans are not meant to be in the simulation for more than 24 hours. That's when the matrix starts to run out of RAM. Humans have to sleep so the matrix can reboot.

This is true.
I used to be smart but then Now I'm a autist

Isaac Newton lived 24 hour days most of the time. At least that's what I've heard...

"working on something" = Gay midget porn marathon

Uh, not really sure how to expand on that user. Basically someone born late in the evening is going to have a naturally more difficult time being a morning person than a person who had been born during the morning and vice versa.

Can’t remember the person but it was big brained mother fucker would take 20 minute naps every 4 hours.

Who cares lol

Semi recently had to Aldo a job that resulted in less than four continuous hours sleep per day over a two or so week period. It’s less than ideal if the short term, but user really needs 7-8 hrs / night. It’s unhealth,y bro

A close friend of mine went from mentally stable to full blown psychotic over losing sleep. careful user

I think that was Leonardo da Vinci

I have the same thing except it’s more like a 2-3 hour change each 24 hour cycle instead of 1.
I thins it’s called Delayed Onset Sleep Disorder. There is no cure - just forcing yourself to try and maintain good habits

Tell me more
Don't spook me like that anons.
I don't feel like it's that bad.
I've heard these rumors too that lots of geniuses we're insomniacs like newton and einstein

Longest was 74 hours in a overseas combat deployment, there was patrol break's, halts, OP's, etc where you could get from a few minutes to 30 minutes in - meaning basically no REM anyway. You are basically guaranteed to be knocked out 10+ hours after that kind of deptrivation and tempo. Microsleeps, caffiene, and simple carbs help alot. The calorie requirements go up retaining strenuous activity under sleep deprivation - get what little sleep you can.

People have been in continuous battles lasting over 80+ hours at a time, microsleeps and adrenaline keeps you awake, but you are guaranteed to crash like a fucking meteor with a 15+ hour sleep once safe

In front of a computer? Probably.

Napoleon would sleep 2 hours a night and still managed to conquer Europe.

that's a crazy lifestyle man i bet you saw some shit.

Did a training exercise in the Army that involved almost no sleep for 4-5 days, on half rations, patrolling with full kit and rifles through familiar bushland. We were able to get 20 minutes sleep here and there. We were a complete mess by day three. Teamwork was out the window for half of our section. Did not fucking recognize places we knew well. Irritability was off the scale. Hallucinations? Constant, especially at night. Ridgelines looked like city skylines for me, and I remember patrolling towards another soldier crouching in a clearing only to realize it was a tree stump when I was 5 metres away. We kept it together though. By the end, it was knowing that we were only 24, 18, 12, 6, 3 hours out from the end of the exercise and sleep that kept us going. We still all went out for beers before going to sleep though. After a shower of course.

So I'm stuck w this shit forever? How does it even happen? I wasn't like this all through grade school, high school or college.

I got the feeling of the pepe reaction image where he looks like a kid in awe from your post and felt kind of bad about the lackluster follow up, but maybe you'll find this interesting if you don't know it already. Supposedly, when mankind had more responsibilities throughout the day and it was customary and just good thinking to have someone keep watch over the village while others slept, a 4 hour "nap" interspersed between watch shifts was fairly normal and it is claimed that people who are living today that exhibit this ability or habit are the descendants of those that kept watch.
