Plan*

I've messed with one on several occasions but I can't play them at all

I have a keyboard piano behind me while I sit at my desk and spin around to practice a little bit a day

Is it hard? I plan to get one for myself and learn how to play on this thing.

It’s an instrument like any other. Probably easier to start because there’s not like a special thing you must do like you would with a reed or brass instrument, but like all instruments it takes practice and a lot of time to get really good. But you could probably start playing simple stuff within a few hours

yep
can never go back to keyboard again now
the weight of the keys, the reverberations, the beauty of the authentic sound
it's all so much

Do you know how to read notes or are you playing by ear?

>playing by ear
Kek. Yes I know how to read notes. If you don’t know how to, start off knowing the different Cs and Gs and then the other notes in relation to them. Or memorizing the spaces. From there you’ll memorize them as you play

My piano teacher was really adamant about instruments that resonate, that you could feel.

I love the piano

first instrument learned :D

music music wonderful music

Those would be either drums or 4x10 Marshall cabinets live :DDD

I remember how it felt when I got my first Marshall stack with a MESA/Boogie SimulClass IV head fresh from the store to our band room.
>to that point I have had a 50 watt Music Man RD110 combo.
Jesus, that Punch I felt in my gut. Never forget.

I wouldn't say played but yes.

Not to get all hipster on you fellows, but i think the Harpsichord is the greatest musicsl instrument devised by man thus of yet

I know what you mean, but I think she meant the acoustic properties. Like, the piano vibrates as a whole, a guitar will vibrate (especially when you press the head up against another piece of wood lol), but what comes from a stack and guitar aren't quite the same.
Honestly, I have a hard time stomaching the sound. Not to mention they're terrible to play.

Well i happen to adore the baroque period of composition and the Harpsichord-violin combination is unmatched in my humble opinion

i remember being like 5 and playing a organ in a church once

Wrong

yes i had a rich relative and he had one just like that one but a bit different and it was very interesting

Good lord
What is that?

Our mainstay keyboard player just loves those. She contributed in a major way to get one newly made in the academy where she studied music.

It's the hurdy gurdy.
The best sounding instrument in the world.

>but I think she meant the acoustic properties

I assure you, go to a Marshall stack, and just feel it when the musician plucks the low end notes from his instrument.
It's a pure acoustic structural vibration. Thump.

I've been known to tickle the ivories from time to time

>the baroque period of composition
>the Harpsichord-violin combination is unmatched in my humble opinion

Please, name some of your favorite pieces from that era.

Concerto in E major by Bach
Pachelbel canon in d minor
Vivaldi's La follia
Four seasons by Vivaldi
Abdelazer by Purcell
Arrival of the queen of Sheba by Handel

Off the top of my head they are among my favourites

If i had to pick a favourite baroque composer then I'd have to go with Henry Purcell
His Operas are remarkable

What?

Your knowledge of history does not include 1992

What's 1992?

Yes, those are nice.. Not really highlighting the harpsichord-violin setting though.

I like J.S. Bach's BWV 1014-1019.

And then Boccherini's Six Sonatas for Violin & Harpsichord, Op. 5 (G. 25-30). pic related, hmm. Dead frogs. Whaddaya know.

For some reason I'm always disappointed when the allegro ends for pretty much any piece

BMV 1015 perfectly illustrates the harpsichord-violin combo imo

Indeed, it does. The light and space in it blows me away every time I listen to it.

I think You might be a *shredder* by heart :DDD

59% white. That's 3% more than your country.

Anno Domini 1992

I guess a chunky palm mute just hits me in a different way. Idk, it's subjective.

Your country is only 70% white because of the snow

I don't get how he made so many compositions just to entertain
Like over 1000 pieces compiled in his works
That's fucking unbelievable

Ofc :)

He also composed some of his top work as presents to people he liked.
>Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena
That's J.S. for you.

My take on him is that he simply wanted to hear more better music from others. In my mind he Genuinely wanted to inspire people around him, so that there would be more music he himself would be inspired about.

However, he himself happened to be somewhat overhelming in his contribution, therefore we had to wait for Mozart and such people to appear.

Fucking this, the hurdy gurdy is a damned good instrument

totally agreed
