You can cut and stab. But since warhammers can have a spike on them, half-swording becomes redundant. There is a reason why warhammers were so expensive at that time and only knights used them.

Literally the best weapon. All other weapons and armor where created in an attempt at dealing with it's devistating effectiveness. Used in warfare from the dawn of time to the last century in the form of the bayonet. When used in formation a block of sheilds and Spears becomes the ancient battlfeild equivalent of a tank. Wars where won and lost on this units ability to remain in formation and to move As one.
