Experimented with it a little bit, adding echo is my favorite effect so far

Attached: god is dead.jpg (593x585, 423K)

Just open it in a text editor jump down to the middle and go wild.

Attached: 1502333684063.jpg (1600x1200, 222K)

Are you OP ? If so, what effect did you use for ?

Despacito

Attached: ee.png (684x879, 714K)

I'm op and I used echo with with adelay time = 1 and a delay factor of 0.1

what exactly do you mean by "go wild"?
I tried erasing random part and mashing keys but that just corrupted the file
surely there has to be some method to it

There kinda is a method to it, you have to scroll quite a ways down to not damage the header or you will corrupt the file. But once you got a feel for it literally go wild, delete parts, move parts, copy and paste something in, for example the entire script of Pulp Fiction or the bee movie or something.

I can't seem to get it to work, even if I import the bmp then export it unchanged gimp can't open it

maybe you forgot to set the encoding to A-law while importing and exporting?

Ahh, yes I did
Thanks!

I tried looking for a tutorial and apparently hat only works on IOS are you sing a mac?
Using a hex editor seems to work just fine on the other hand
I could probably get better even results with a .jpg since the smaller file size might make changes more impactfull

Attached: lame is a whore hex.jpg (576x768, 103K)

echo is pretty trippy

Attached: Polygondwanaland3.jpg (1000x1000, 1018K)

JPGs are compressed; they have an encoding that you will likely corrupt.
Bitmaps work best because they are very close to raw image data.

Attached: ghzjz.png (726x1067, 1.31M)

looks like the hex method even works on gifs

You can definitely get some very cool effects. I should try to do some changes, turn the picture 9 degrees, and repeat the same process again.

I'm seeing a lot of polite and cool people help others with these in here, so does anyone mind doing a cool edit to this picture for me?

Nice.

sorry for the wait, this one was acting up for some reason

Don't have Gimp could you do something with this?

Download paint.net, it works just as well

I've written a corrupting script before, but hadn't thought about processing raw data with audio effects before. Neat.
Pic related, did it with my own method a few months ago for someone else.

Attached: corruptcover.png (1000x1000, 745K)

Noyce. What did you use to get this result?

Not trying to offend or anything but what is the appeal about databending?
What do you guys like about it?
Just curious.

I think it is interesting to transform a picture to create new meaning for it. Meaning that wasn't intended, like this one , or to the contrary, to exacerbate a specific idea. See this for example: And it's a fun, experimental process where you can't really tell in advance what your inputs will make to the final product.

Randomly changing like 30 or so bytes of a PNG to some other random value. Other image types work, but PNGs seem to be the most interesting.
I had to re-save it with the windows photo viewer (which doesn't give a shit about corruption) to re-stabilize it for use elsewhere.
My script is literally drag and drop, type corruption amount, and press enter. I actually made it to corrupt old video games, for fascinating results.

Oh so transformation?
How like a picture of something cute can all of a sudden look kind of creepy?
Like ? (Guess it's a bad example since its DDLC but you get what I mean)

>And it's a fun, experimental process where you can't really tell in advance what your inputs will make to the final product.
Oh? I've got GIMP I'll try my hand at this now :)

nani?
I like experimenting with files and seeing the results and it can look pretty neat at times

Attached: req 7 1.jpg (1200x800, 721K)

Yes. At least, that's the kick I get out of it. Although it can also be used to increase the effect of one picture as well.

Jow Forums is a glitch board

Attached: glitch-cola.jpg (896x631, 315K)

And what would you say is the difference between databending and glitch? Because to me they kinda seem samey

I use it to make album art desu

I personally consider databending intentional glitches.

Lmao how come I didn't think of that. These make great album art!

I'm not very fluent in this kind of thing, so I don't really make any significant distinction. But I assume glitching makes reference to specific visual effects that one would expect from something "glitchy", like a damage tape recorder or a scratched disk, while databending is more general and can make references to other visual effects

We are are all looking for a place and purpose yet, we find ourselves at a place that we did not envision and a purpose that was not our intention.

Attached: a1.jpg (1776x2240, 1.13M)

It's more corruption than glitch desu. Not that there's much of a difference in effect.
Yeah I've seen a lot of people use it. Being able to make cool stuff while not being artistically skilled is quite nice.
I wrote a program to do it years ago, dunno if I'll be able to find it now though.

Oh I'd actually have one picture I'd like dataglitched.
It's my current phone wallpaper, it's vaporwave art, I'm really into that and outrun atm.

Get your ass back in my comfy thread.

Escape. It's what we strive for all amounts of measurable amounts of time whether we realize it or not. The flickering of screens. We cannot escape it. The emission of sound from devices. We cannot escape it. The pleasures of flesh. We cannot escape it.

Attached: a2.jpg (1560x2080, 1.22M)

Reality is the one notion that makes us a being. We are all to see reality as we are told so. But, our reality is only being received by our anthropomorphic features that allow us so. Without it, what would we have?

Attached: a3.jpg (2080x1560, 1.27M)

Since I already mentioned it here , before I render any videos, would anyone be interested in seeing some old games I corrupted a while ago? Some are pretty interesting (and entertaining, in some cases).

here you go
I think I remember reading somewhere that Databending specifically refers to the act of corrupting files via programs not intended for their filetype
I could just be mis-remembering though
