Help me, Jow Forums

Help me, Jow Forums.
I have a weird condition. Every time I feel like my computer is not in "perfect" condition, I have to wipe it clean and reinstall everything from zero. If at any point of installation or initial steps after I get an error message anywhere, I feel like my setup has been contaminated and I have to reinstall everything again.
I reinstall Windows like 5 times a week. Same goes for my Linux and Mac setups. What the fuck is wrong with me? Can anyone relate?

see a therapist

yep. i recently set up my old PC as a server so i've had a lot of incentive to keep files. I also started keeping backups of all my PC's so they can be easily re-imaged if need be

You do realize you described 99% of Jow Forums right?
Just do a clean install, make a backup with filezilla and restore your pc every 2 months maximum. Just don't install malwares on int and you'll be fine

Start using Arch, it can be installed very quickly.

do you see these "linux minimalism thread" these people are the next level they dont want anything they don't recognize into their system

You have obsessive-compulsive disorder. Do this

literally OCD.

I had the same symptoms and I have OCD. Medication and therapy help. It may get worse if you don't do anything about it. In my opinion there's a bigger chance it will get worse than it won't.

If you don't want medication, CBT also helps. But seek help user.

OCD, I know because I have it too. I usually check about 30 times that my laptop is not connected to the internet before i close it because I am afraid of being hacked. I do this by clicking repetitevely on the wifi window and closing. I do this for everything, closing doors, washing hands, cleaning dishes. Help me

I used to have that problem (not quite to the degree of real OCD which you probably have) but I'm getting better now. Using a system image tool might help as long as you don't get carried away with that too. Like I use Macrium Reflect (Free) to image my windows installs at various early stages, after having just fresh installed, after the essential drivers, updates, and some or no programs whatsoever for example, that way if I realize I fucked up later and I want to roll back to a fresh installed copy with just drivers it doesn't mean actually sitting through a fresh install and rebooting for drivers yadda yadda, anyway just a though.. maybe you already do that kind of imaging anyway, obviously there are similar thing you can do with Linux and macOS installs and linux in general is much less of a hassle to fresh install, update and restore the stuff you want without the rebooting and fucking around that the first stages of windows installs often require,

good luck, do what you can on your own to reduce OCD and maybe seek professional help if you can.

yeah, but I have severe OCD. switching to NixOS pretty much saved me from this

I do this as well (not as often but I reinstall Windows anywhere from 2 to ~10 times a month) and I actually have another quirk.

Whenever I download a file or copy or move something I have to check the entire folder via dir /all to make sure there isn't a hidden file in there. desktop.ini are my worst nightmare

I also have this weird fear of leaving light switches in a half-on/half-off state because I'm afraid they might catch on fire if I do this. I usually need 15-30 minutes before going to bed to check every single light switch in my house by tapping it multiple times in a closed state.

Try DeepFreeze.

You click repetitively on your wifi window and close it before you close a door?

CBD oil is the shit for ocd.

Are you me?.

I suffered from something similar. After visiting a pornsite (i.e. pornhub), I always reinstalled the whole os, because I was scared if i got a virus. And yeah, using linux, fully updated, noscript and ublock.

I do this. But I literally got a virus and had proof of a virus. The botnet doesn't want me to touch my weiner

That’s right and it’s so comfy to have a system you know is yours. On top of that, it’s blazing fast!

Also, we do recognize kitten boys, UwU

But how did you know it was a real virus?
