This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
As I was saying last thread, the guy with the blue/black bezel Seiko should keep it that way, a black bezel would just make it boring. And his 40 year token confuddles me.

Nice rolex, when did they start putting it out like that or is it an aftermarket dial? I like it better without the text like that, I think the crown and the ROLEX is pretentious
Why are dive watches so popular? They're tacky and have a utilitarian aesthetic, but everyone pretends they look appropriate as dress watches. This makes no sense. It's like wearing a tool belt with a suit.

Only if you have a crustache

You're thinking about this too hard

Because people are trendwhores and divers have the largest presense on the wrist.
Cannot speak for everyone else but my interest in them is >high legibility >waterproof enough for if it is pouring outside I am at peace of mind or beach swimming >actually find the bezel useful for various chores.

Undone are by far the most interesting fashion brand going right now. They have some pretty nice looking speedmaster homages too.
>cannot even swim That is why they are called 'dive watches', duh...
James Jones
>In your case, it's understandable. However, I'm willing to bet 99% of dive watch enthusiasts cannot even swim. I am actually a saturation diver and I am working out a way to install helium escape valves on my solar seikos
Most watches are styled after some old utility need, I guess you can only buy a field watch if you hang out in fields all day or a pilot watch if you work for delta etc

I've thought about it, but I don't really like how leather straps look on oyster style cases because they leave that big ugly gap between the lugs. I might eventually buy a strap to try it out, but I'm not convinced. Plus the bracelet is really good and to me the bracelets are like half the reason for buying a Rolex in the first place.
Undone, as mentioned by another user earlier. The Mystique may be up your alley.
Josiah Watson
Mine doesn't have that problem.
Rolex has always consistently had better bracelets than the competition. Find me a bracelet that old and heavily worn that isn't also stretched, or a bracelet from that era that had solid links or a milled clasp. They didn't exist.
I'll admit they did me too, at first. It seemed all wrong - cyclops, crown, indices, but it started to grow on me. Might buy one to see how it looks irl
Wait a minute is the bearmode guy windyknob shitposter?
Nathaniel Powell
There’s a couple of them there’s the original guy who just shit posts stock Photos, The guy you’re talking about who owns two of them and another guy who owns a least one

Only time it is annoying is when wearing long sleeve jacket with elastic cuff. I also wear it on this perlon which is a bit better for that.
