this bothers me so much
if anyone knows your email they can lock you out by spamming random passwords

>wake up in the middle of the night
>dead silent, but turn over in bed a bit
>fm radio continues to play the obscure station I fell asleep to

This is the kind of shit that’ll lock people out of homes in the near future.

Mine got leaked in a big data breach, are they credential stuffing my shit?

I lost a 10 year old hotmail account a few years back because of this. I typed the password wrong like 10 times and they locked the account.
I have the correct password, but I can't log in because their idea of security is 'if we just nuke the thing it's secure'. I went through their automated recovery process about 20 times and went through support too but of course the info I gave isn't enough.
Whoever thought locking entire accounts was a good security measure is a piece of shit. I don't care about the account since I wasn't even using it but if I have the password to an account let me log in. It's not like they're even obligated to lock accounts, if someone guesses your password you can't hold Microsoft liable.

Holy shit same exact thing happened to me, had some hotmail account I used for years and I of course used it on my Xbox 360 when that came out and now I can't even gain access to that account anymore because my hotmail is locked with no way to recover

Damn, yeah it's real shitty.

>go to account login for website
>autofills an email I've never seen before

>Flash player in fullscreen
>Cursor moves and brings up UI
What if they are doing things behind the player?

>Wake up 6am
>Notice light in room
>Closet light that doesnt work is on
>Turn on bedside light to go turn it off, mildly spooked
>As soon as I stand up the closet light turns off
>Switch is still on

Didn't sleep after that

Spooky

Deliciously spooky

>keyboard randomly registers a different key press than what I actually pressed
>only at a certain time of the day
>only on one account
>have no other keyboard or computer to check

It's been going on for months

Which distro?

Windows 7

My main email is still hotmail (for over a decade here too), how may I take precautions against this?

by linking recovery email, security questions etc

If that's all you can really do, I should double check the recovery email and maybe change the security questions from randumb things I liked eight years ago. Cause I know locking me out isn't beyond m$
