So it says here on your resume that you do, in fact, NOT hold a Master's degree in a relevant tech field

But I do
Why would you not get a masters? Do people really go through undergrad and go
>well that was fun getting up to speed but I don't care about this subject I've studied for four years to get into the cool shit

Universities have been so thoroughly cucked by Conservative political machinations and are thusly so far behind the curve in tech (and everything else) that it would be a waste of my time and money to get a masters degree.

Listen here you bald fuck; you're 42 and still work in HR. I'LL ask the questions here

That's the lead developer interviewing you

I don't need a piece of paper to tell me I'm a master, bitch

Didn't want to endure Marxists indoctrination and brainwashing by radical far left wing professors and also discrimination from racists for having the wrong skin color.

College is a ponzi where you must repay debts to (((them))). Many jobs would do better to rely on self made portfolios as a way to judge competence rather than degrees.

I'm not going to college. I'm working on projects and, someday, when I go to get a job I intend to just plop down my portfolio of success and let that speak volumes for what kind of person I am. Not that I'm ever going to need to, because I work freelance anyways.

I think the whole "ONLY YOUR COLLEGE DIPLOMA MATTERS" meme is a farce and if for whatever reason it ever comes down to that I am going to laugh in the employer's face.

Wow shut up you racist bigot.
Are you gonna hire me or should I post on Twitter about how racist and evil this company is?

I disagree with the cause of the problem but agree with the sentiment. I'm about to finish my bachelors and refuse to go for my masters until a company will pay for it. I love what I study, but I hate having no savings and a bunch of debt right out of the gate.

This. Engineers who were trained at the top of the academic ivory tower need to stay there. They are fucking useless to reality.

In Europe with our FREE Education(TM) you basically need an MSc to get any type of job, no matter how menial.

Feels strange when you're conversing with your American counter-parts and they don't grasp simple math concepts you're taught first year in grad school

Well, i decided to take a variety of courses and specializations to be fit to handle more than just one area.
If you do want a specialist who would be handling only one task stop being a faggot and get a freelancer, i'm here to grow, learn and make money for myself and you, not to be your machine, bye.

>I think the whole "ONLY YOUR COLLEGE DIPLOMA MATTERS" meme is a farce and if for whatever reason it ever comes down to that I am going to laugh in the employer's face.

So you're just going to go through life never applying to any qualified jobs whatsoever?

Not that it's not fine

>I see you wrote "videos games" in the hobby section of your resume, can you elaborate?

>Just one more question before we wrap this up. It says here you're circumcised. Care to elaborate?

>Universities are too left
>Universities are too right
I think Jow Forums just can't cut it in the real world and hates what they can't have.

This entire thread is sour grapes.

>Universities
>Conservaitve
Are you actually braindead?

I only ever envision myself applying for a job at a place that matters to me. Collaborating in a software project with like-minded people.

I don't do things that don't interest me.

Universities are filled with leftist commie scum.
IT and engineering faculties are still argely filled with logical staff.

It can indeed be both.

I had a job offer before I finished my bachelor's degree. Why would I refuse money?

Interviews are for faggots. You have to jump through all these hoops and waste so much time, all for a job you probably won't even get and even if you do get it, you'll end up hating it.

I just want to be free. I want to be able to tell all these people to go fuck themselves.

Yeah it's so I can fuck Yiddish girls without them having some weird fetish about it

Unless you've got a boatload of money, that's unrealistic.
neetbux here - they aren't enough to have a good life.

Most people are going to college to get a degree to make money. Much fewer are there for the sake of academic pursuit. There are plenty of undergrad degrees you can make a good living with (CS included) so most of the people in them are unlikely to pursue grad school.
That said, I'm getting my masters in GIS because mapping is a really fascinating subject to me (although it will be quite lucarative as well)

I'm in one of the so called reddest states and even the private Christian university whenever it appears in the media is pushing some kind of progressive SJW agenda and all of the exact same causes that the left champion. It's almost hard to imagine that just a couple decades ago this same university had rules like couples weren't allowed any form of public display of affection and weren't allowed to be together alone, but now even this former conservative Christian university has been subverted.

I have a family member that is going after their PhD now. Not necessarily because they want to make money but they admitted they are afraid of working a real job etc. Truth is people have been in the school system for 20+ years and afraid to leave it as it's all they know/good at. This is the situation for most professors, 50+ years old and they never worked a real job.

MSc degrees are really commonplace today though, and doesn't make you an "academic" person. Most people get one because... why not, you're already studying?

PhDs tend to remain in their little academic incubators, yeah. I go to the old alma mater every now and then since my company dump thesis and research projects on them (great deal for us), and seeing their tiny little offices where they've spent their whole working life... Makes me feel better about myself, despite my lesser education.

That's cause reality is leftist.

Look at the fucking width of your shoulders you bald fuck. You look like a fucking stickman with that huge bald head on that tiny frame. Its as if you actively avoided testosterone all your fucking life only to end up in fucking HR.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are you playing edgy against a picture of two stock photo models?

>Animals are leftist
>Societies that didn't go in the trash are leftist
Why don't you move to Venezuela? It's a leftist Paradise!

Fuck HR. I hate those faggots. They've ruined my life, I started this wagecuck job in hopes of having a comfy life , but they actively try to ruin it by their shitty pseudo knowledge always, always trying to fucking one up programmers because they know , deep inside that their job is a fucking meme and all it will take is a non-brainlet in the industry to end entire HR cancer, interaction engineers and whatnot, with their meme terms like Agile, design thinking or whatever the fuck.

Are you an engineer by trade, upset that your MSc is worth less than their MScs?

Or are you just a degreeless loser upset that they're more highly educated than you?

This is absolute bullshit.
University is free where I live and you can get a job in software development with a high-school degree.

As a code ape perhaps. A qualified job - not a chance.

Unless you live in some third world slav country

A degree does not make you a master at anything
No matter how much theory you pump into your head, you'll only get experience through practice

In reality hirers care more about professional certifications rather than academic degrees though, user.

>slav
>third world
I would call western and northern europe more third world if anyone

Well of course if the position requires the knowledge of a software engineer, they will ask for the degree generally.
But this is no different in America. The jobs that don't ask for the degree are mostly shit tier.

In the actual reality, it is naturally both.

If you are to work as an engineer you need to actually be one in order to even be a candidate - so the degree is the first step.

Then your experience is compared to that of the other candidates.

... unless of course you're going to be a "web developer", "interaction engineer", "agile programmer" or hold some other unqualified position

Nope.

See: engineers.texas.gov/software.html

Stop talking outta your ass.

I'll gladly take an unqualified "web developer" position that pays 200k a year for sitting on my ass while you spend extra years studying to be an "engineer" thst earns half that.

>he still actually thinks Conservative vs Liberal is a Right vs Left issue

Keep sucking on that MSM sewage pipe, you fucking pleb.

We all know that.
That is the difference between a useless nu-male opportunist that only cares about money.
And someone who does what he loves.
If I was to work a code monkey for the rest of my life by 30 I would already have killed myself.

>That is the difference between a useless nu-male opportunist that only cares about money.

This is the majority of STEM. Capitalism forces this behavior.

Not sure whose side you're arguing here, but good luck climing any sort of career ladder without a degree.

>this argument again
Five years at uni were the best years of my life.

I worked simultaneously and had zero debt upon graduating.

What would I rather have done, worked a menial job with no career prospects for five years?

complete bullshit lmao

I don't have to work for the rest of my life because I'm not a poorfag engineer making peanuts. I will have enough to retire on by 30.

5 years is around $1m of income. By the time you graduated I was halfway to retirement.

Nice dreams you have there, kid.

>But this is no different in America. The jobs that don't ask for the degree are mostly shit tier.

Have you ever applied for a job? They basically all accept "equivalent experience" instead of a degree, whether you are applying for super-senior-prinicipal-engineer at Amazon or junior at some unfunded startup.

Phd is a stretch here but its true about masters here, a lot of my friends are already saying they will go through masters because, being jobless is hard and if other people ask "what are you doing" they can easily say masters

I haven't gotten a job in 2 years after uni, should I just do a masters?

Attached: 1519907713211.jpg (467x531, 48K)

good luck explaining the two year gap in your CV, better stay in academia

How so? I doubt people doing chemical engineering or physics do it for the money. They could just do CS or SE, or why even bother, just get an online diploma and be a codemonkey for more money.
My point exactly, that today being a web developer might get you a lot of money, but I'd rather be an engineer on a not so exploited field that I enjoy even if I earn a fourth, but life will be more enjoyable.
Well someone replied for me: Enjoy a petty life.

Nobody will hire me in my city because Canada sucks, what is there to explain.

I'm asking if a masters will help get an overseas job.

>making money for Mr. Shekelstein for your entire life is enjoyable
Whatever buddy. Enjoy your 3 weeks of vacation per year.

Evolution is leftist. Germ theory is leftist. Astronomy is leftist. Computer science is leftist. I mean, you're admitting right now that academia, the foundation of modern civilization, is leftist.

Why don't you go back to the Dark Ages? It's a rightist Paradise!

There are tons of jobs in Canada (assuming Software Engineering), just like in the US and EU. When I read online that there are people like you, I don't get it, you must either be shit and in denial, really lazy or do something very stupid in your CV/interviews.

Venezuela is under a military dictatorship right now, user. That's a textbook example of an extreme right-wing regime, you dumbass.

anybody who promotes Leftist politics is just baiting

Reactionaries just leave. Jow Forums is a socialist board.

I have extreme social anxiety and freeze in interviews

Oh, that explains it. I am sorry, but I don't think a masters will help with that.

>muh jews boogeymen
I do what I do for my own enjoyment and personal gain. And it not my fault you don't work for the government. Are you sure you are not the one making money for Mr. Shekelstein?

What does ;_; I started my own company to fill the resume gap but I'll have to face it eventually

>What does
No idea, have never gone through that. Maybe talk to a professional?

>started my own company
Sounds good, will you be interacting with clients?

what about those coding bootcamps have you considered those?

brainlet

Just web stuff. No interacting face to face

yeah because leftism is not politics anymore just mental illness

I have years in the field already and you can pay me less than the equivalent person with a master's. Think of me like an Indian H-1B that produces better results.

When can I start setting up my desk?

Have you ever worked with someone that didn't at least have a bachelor's degree? I've been working for six years, and I've only met two. One of them was a fucking idiot, and the other one was an asshole (but probably would have been an asshole even if he went to college).

Most of my colleagues did some level of grad school.

if anything this post points out the uselessness of higher education. The measly 1 extra year spent on the masters degree gets you 100 times the status/respect but a 10% raise. The phd is even worse.
