I think going KDE solves the first three. Image picker has thumbnails, Dolphin can have folder specific settings and you can just switch audio outputs (I think that's what was meant) in the volume bar by dragging an icon to the output you'd like.

if you use kde all three problems are non-existent, if you use any gui/tui (alsamixer, pavucontrol, gnome/kde/mate mixers) the third problem is solved - for cli there is pacmd. As for the adobe/microsoft software, software supports an OS not the other way around, go ask ms and adobe for linux versions or use wine - ms office 2013 works with it, the 2016 version supposedly works with crossover.
