It is Wine fault, not GNU, since GNU software and Linux are capable working with japs letters.

But it can, you're just too retarded to set it up correctly.
It's actually easier to run them on GNU/Linux than on windows as you only need to set one environment variable to change the locale.

Some novels just won't start.
I use japs locale, I copied all fonts, some just refused to start. I don't really know, may slavic locale of system shits it up - don't really know. Anyway, I've installed Windows XP on VM and played it there.
Not all eroges are made in RenPy.

Are making visual novels profitable?

My ex-fiancee runs a small visual novel studio with her now-husband (she left me to fuck him, long story). They are both full-time, but they have a team of 3-4 programmers and artists that they hire on a contract basis. They put out about 2 games a year.

Their work looks REALLY low-budget, but all their titles are on Steam. They seem to spend a lot of time traveling to anime and video game cons to sell their stuff in person, which makes me think it's actually not very profitable. They also live fairly modestly.

I would never buy any, because I'm not supporting that whore. I also don't think that VNs are video games. Fuck her.

that really is not much when you go past one person in the team.
most seem to be from 2nd/3rd world countries with broken english, so the money lasts longer there.
but i think the highest is still summertime right? just checking now and it seems to be getting 30k a month which is pretty good with the team size of 8.
