elaborate

it's not very consistent, or even very good. I don't really know what I expected from psudo-linux emulated syscalls, but I guess I expected it to be better.

He fell for Microsoft's jewish scheme.
They have a "Linux subsystem" now that basically gives you the Ubuntu command line shell and utilities inside windows. They do this for a few other distros as well. It's a slimy tactic, because afaik the way they still phrase it and advertise it, they make these systems out to be just a little app you can run on your Windows machine. Obviously there's a lot more to these distros, namely the fact that you don't have Microsoft's spying, proprietary shite running underneath, plus there's, ya know, X11 and all the DEs and GUI software that runs on it. But for someone who's never heard of GNU/Linux, they might think, "Why would I want to install Ubuntu? I already did! See the app?"

>"Ubuntu on Windows"
>it just maps Linux syscalls to shitty Windows syscalls
>isn't FLOSS
No

Is there any software, that will map shitty windows shitcalls to linux syscalls?

ok

Wine

another great thread made by none other than OP
what ever can we do against such a menace?

Inverted wine, wew

not emulated. it's basically reverse WINE.

Been using Linux for 7 years exclusively. No reason to use Windows.

So Line then?

>no netlink
>no kvm
>no netfilter (lol)
it's shit

you can run X and have a DE or WM in it
Don't talk it off your ass
It's bad for better reasons

My reason is embedded spyware. How does this address it?

Too late.

optimus laptop

It is super slow. Just use a VM instead.

If I wanted to have >muh shell, I'd have gone with Windows 8 way back in '12.
>implying one windows install will work gracefully between completely different hardware
>implying you can build windows from the ground up
>implying you can swap the DE in windows
>implying windows is stable
>implying windows leaves you alone for upgrades
install gentoo and lxqt

>he thinks there is only one problem with winshit
kek

I didn't really leave Windows because I wanted a specific CLI toolset, I left Windows to get away from shitty Windows. With WSL you still have to deal with shitty Windows. No thanks

>ITT: people who have no idea what they are talking about
lol

If i could replace explorer.exe with a DE then id download it in a heartbeat and use it, otherwise id rather just install Ubuntu itself

Does this shit support dm-crypt/LUKS and ext4?
Genuine question

>try out linux subsystem
>do basic linux operations
>everything takes forever
>youtube-dl has a 9 year execution time and download speed is dial-up tier

yea I'll stick to cygwin/dual boot thanks
