>Is OLED better than LCD?
Yes.

>Can I afford it?
No.

I bought a 4K OLED for £800 a few weeks back, they're not that expensive for what you're getting.

ENJOY YOUR BURN IN!!!

No it's not. OLED still has the same issues as plasma that images can be perma burned into the screen.

who are you quoting?

It is still developing, I wouldn't buy one right now cause better models get rolled out in the development process and you may spend a fortune now but my guess is the prices will lower once they have it all figured out. Atm they are ridiculously expensive.

It's far harder to cause permanent burn in on an OLED than plasma, and only retards ever managed it with plasma to begin with.

Not really. I have the choice between a 55" LG B7 OLED for £1200 and a 55" Sony XE93 for £1269. The latter comes with a better warranty though. And it doesn't seem possible to get any kind of decent 55" TV for much less.

I got the 65" B7 and though it was $$ it was worth every god damn penny.

*whomst'd

>Is OLED better than LCD?
Yes, obviously.
>it's confusing
What is?

Some people say OLEDs aren't bright enough and that it's easy to burn in things like game HUDs and channel logos.

this, desu
i was this close to getting a 65" OLED lg, but i don't want this shit degraded in two years

highest-end IPS is still best

IPS is utter shit and not used in any high end LCD TVs, which all use VA panels.

OLED isnt bright enough for good hdr and dolby vision, just get a Sony XE93

nobody believes you.

>OLED isnt bright enough for good hdr

HDR is supposed to be dark, that's the way editors master it.
In any case it's all about contrast ratios, which is where OLED is king.
You might have to turn off all light and close the curtains to enjoy it, but then you have the best experience.

All Plasmas naturally get burn ins after years of usage. It's just not possible to completely prevent it.
Which is partially why manufacturers gave up on them.

The only reasons TVs use VA panels instead of IPS is because VA has better contrast and it's cheaper. That's it. IPS is superior for monitors. If you tried using a VA panel as a 32"+ monitor you'd have contrast shifting at the edges, even at a comfortable viewing distance.

Oled is deprecated shit. The color shift over time is unforgivable. Do not buy an oled screen that you don't plan on replacing in 2 years anyway like a phone.

Suddenly I remember that gay porn burn in prank

Both OLED and Plasma pixels wear out from use. The more they're used the more they wear. It's inevitable.

Plasmas don't naturally get burn-in over time at all. I owned a plasma for eight years and it didn't have any whatsoever at the time I sold it on. It was still just as good as the day I bought it.

The part about it being because it's cheaper is complete horse shit. Cheap LCD TVs are the ones that use IPS panels. VA is used for TVs because it has dramatically superior contrast and black levels compared to IPS, and those are important for movies.

IPS is acceptable for a PC monitor, but VA is equally as good. There are plenty of large VA monitors out there. A bunch of new 32" 144Hz 1440p VA monitors hit the market not long ago actually (the Asus XG32VQ for instance), and they're pretty great.

Rtings' OLED burn-in test has found no colour shift at all in thousands of hours of usage so far. Brightness hasn't dropped either (in fact, it gradually increased over the first couple of thousand hours).

Another myth busted. Sure, they get burn-in if you're a retard and leave a static image on-screen constantly, but only a retard would do that.

Large VA monitors are shit. Go look at any consumer review and they'll complain about the contrast shift. When you're using VA on a TV it's not as big of an issue because you're at a further distance.

>Sure, they get burn-in if you're a retard and leave a static image on-screen constantly, but only a retard would do that.
aka they're completely useless for anything other than phones and TVs.

It will be replaced in two years time though, will it not?

can we not post pics anymore

yeah, for retards such as yourself this is the inevitable conclusion I guess

Overpriced and degrade noticeably over life
Soon you'll be back here in Jow Forums defending your purchase and within a year you'll defend how that faint burn in is a feature that should be prized.

What is this a school playground? Do you honestly think computer displays aren't displaying mostly static images for most people?

OLED is fundamentally flawed because it is made from organic material. It is not meant to last nearly as long as LCD.
Unless you can afford a new $2000 TV every year it's not a good investment.
Hopefully MicroLED will replace LCD's in a few years, it looks very promising as it is.
For now, best you can do is buy an LCD with local dimming. It's not OLED but it's much better than any LCD's without it.
I bought a Sony X930E last year and I'm quite happy with it.

Doesn't matter, it's better than crap OLED.
VA is also shit, m8 - If you even consider IPS terrible and praise VA, you're just a blind retarded

>TV
Normie, get out.
Use a monitor.

How else am I suppose to play my xbox you fucking nerd

I just told you:
On a fucking monitor.
>xbox
>Normie get out.

>Is OLED better than LCD?
that depends.
what are your feelings about the color yellow?

>Playing xbox on a monitor
enjoy your no sound and monitors are just crappy small versions of TV.

what do you mean by that

Blue leds degrade much faster than red or green

The whites turn yellow after a year of moderate use. Happens on every oled/amoled

Learn to greentext you giant faggot

>better
If you use it as TV, not as PC monitor. That means, image must change constantly and not be static (i.e windows taskbar/background/etc)

After using an OLED as a monitor for a while, the real issues of oled is the uniformity of near-blacks, and panel lottery(for banding, vignetting), everything else is much better than VA, let alone ips garbage. Burn-in should not be an issue as long as you are not mentally challenged; CRT were used as a monitor just fine and they suffered from burn-in too.
