Do landline phones for homes make even sense anymore? I haven't used mine in years.
Do landline phones for homes make even sense anymore? I haven't used mine in years
they don't give you brain cancer
They are good in emergencies since the land lines can function during a power outage. The landline networks can also handle high volume calls. Last time there was a major emergency in NY, cell towers get overloaded and people can't make calls.
Nope. I haven't owned one in years. All of the utility wiring in my condo was done in CAT5, so I've just replaced all of the outlets with RJ45.
>I've just replaced all of the outlets with RJ45.
>>running your computer off an RJ45
??????
Do you not know what utility means in a household setting? Are you mentally challenged?
It comes with the triple package thing.
>never seen a phone jack
911 calls
>Thick concrete walls with lots of rebar
>Metal walls plates
>50' underground
>100% doomsday ready
Not everyone can get cell service in their home...
Haven't used one in 20 years.
Nothing makes sense anymore just do whatever gets you laid
congrats, you're retarded and need to get off Jow Forums
This is the best advice on this board
I'm not a caveman who only cares about getting his dick wet I have an intellect
I kinda wish I had a landline for those times when my internet goes out.
I use a sip trunk via my avaya pbx with IP phones. Sure, it's on a UPS, but once in a while the internet is garbage and it would be nice to have a failover.
As a business owner, yes.
I use a voip home phone because I've found a cell phone plan to be useless and canceled it. I just use my cell phone on wifi for clover and as a pocketwatch then if I need to make a call(pretty rare) I'll use my phone on my desk.
I didn't think about this, pretty good reason
thanks user
>be me
>local telco calls me
>they're phasing out their copper lines >they will migrate my service to fiber without any cost
>they want to schedule the visit.
>next day, they come and do their job.
>replace ADSL modem/router/AP with bulky ONT providing phone, internet and wireless AP.
>ask if they provide battery backup in case of blackout
decide to not pay it
Now I'm thinking if it was a good idea to reject it.
(This happened on a narrow and shitty south american country, at least blackouts do not commonly happen)
My mom pays $60 each month for a copper land line.
what a joke
Post photos of your house
Get a UPS.
>doomsday ready
>line gets cut
>you're completely in the dark
retard
Talking on a cell phone isn't great. The audio quality is generally mediocre and I'd rather hold a landline handset than press an uncomfortable plastic/metal rectangle up to my head or use a headset.
