Windows 10 is a bloated, disgusting piece of shit. Search indexing is built into explorer, making that slow. If you go disable services they start up again the next time you reboot. It's much more resource intensive than 7. I even tried LTSB on a laptop and it was incredibly slow.

If you disable updates and defender/firewall on LTSB they just come right back the next time you reboot. It happened to me when I put LTSB on a computer.

It's entirely possible to run Win7 on Coffee Lake. Runs perfectly, no issues other than getting the fucker to work in the first place. Oh, and the fact that Microsoft intentionally break Windows Update if you do, but you can patch around that quite easily.
I've not managed to get it running properly on Skylake, though.

Windows 10 is actually much better at memory management and caching than Windows 7. A good example can be seen by running side by side tests of video transcoding in Windows 7 and Windows 10. Windows 10 on average uses about 30% less memory while being 10% faster.
The truth is; Windows 10 would've been praised if Microsoft didn't issue forced update patches to Windows 7 and 8.1.
