Not so fast.

Python is the only language I know and therefore my favorite. But it's also the best language so I don't think I'll learn any others

C#

Javascript.
Can be used pretty anywhere you want on the go without need to install anything.
The syntax is simple and intuitive.

c# is pretty great

C++ Masterrace

My own, obviously.
Hope ur answer isn't something else.
/thread

Javascript is based

>portable
Lol

agreed.

C

Java because I'm paid to

this
js master race
the final red pill

Was taught Java in university, but I prefer Python now. Since I work in DevOps I don't need to code a lot and Python allows me to get stuff done quickly and write scripts. Performance is a non-issue there.

i need to get into devops
they make a ton of money and do trivial stuff

>dev ops
lmao
nice ''''work'''''
how many cups of coffee do you make for others a day

Name a platform you can't target with C.

you're mom, she only takes the D LOL

>college teaches java
>graduate friends said java is a meme, learn c++
>learn c++
>employers say c++ and java are both memes, we are looking for javascript devs

You can learn js in a weekend if you know java and C++.

C++11

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

rust
cause

Name a non-trivial codebase that doesn't need a ton of ifdefs to compile on more than one platform.

hasklel
>useless and beautiful like me

They all suck. Programming languages are tools, not football clubs. I program a lot of Rust nowadays, both paid and hobby stuff. I've been into Rust since 2015 and presented at RustConf, but I can Imagine turning into one of those evangelists, defending the language on the internet, trying to convince people to rewrite whole projects. What a fucking loser do you have to be to shill a programming language.

>I program a lot of Rust nowadays,
>I've been into Rust since 2015 and presented at RustConf,
No wonder you can say everything else you said so freely, go die.

For a long time it was C, just because of the freedom it allowed.
Eventually I started leaning towards a minimal subset of C++.
Nowadays I think Rust is my favorite language. I'm continually impressed at how I can write concise and expressive code and have it be just as efficient as the equivalent micromanaged C.

You guys are forgetting the true king of programming language's.....batch

hahaha

C#

Cross platform
Open source
VS + Resharper, best IDE
Solid frameworks to develop any kind of app

*clap*

PHP
>no ide needed
>laravel makes quick development
>easy & cheap to deploy
>retards can't write it properly

sure buddy

Scala. It's just such a pleasure to use. I find the syntax concise and expressive.
>mix of functional and oo features
>JVM language
>awesome type system

Java, Script version

I hate them all. But haskell is the closets to something I like.

python, it's comfy

>node is preinstalled in every distro and in osx and windows

Typescript. Has all the nice parts of modern javascript (and classic javascript such as everything being an object [so methods can be called on primitives], function as values, easily composable objects that created the JSON that everyone now prefers to XML, etc) plus some more language candy like types, private/public/protected members, interfaces, etc.

lmaOOO

>you need node to program in javascript
a decent web browser suffices.

Well played, I must admit.

List("hell ", "yeah").foreach(print)

>JavaScript user replies to the wrong post
Checks out

Go because it's for ``brainlets" like me.

C++ is supplementing girlfriend in my life. Ideal love/hate relationship but we both know we are stuck together forever so we try to get along.

Ada. It was the main language used to teach CS at my alma mater. Today it is known as Ada83.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ada_(programming_language)

ruby
>concise,easy to read syntax
>object oriented
>easy metaprogramming

Cross platform. Hem. Have you ever tried Mono on Linux? It sucks. So not really cross platform.
Never on MacOS tho. The language is interesting, that's ashame it's made by Microsoft and it's running om a VM.

dotnet core is open source and cross platform.

Also, there are alot of popular cross platform games (including consoles) developed on mono with monogame.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

holy shit

Should I learn PHP? What's a good resource

I need a job real bad

PowerBuilder

Hypocrisy.

The post.

This but for other reasons

>Coq -> OCaml
>Extremely readable, as in you look at the code and know what the compiler will emit. Almost like C in this regard.

We're /sp/ now? Great!

This one was pretty good.

VB.NET
Because words.

I believe the future is managed.

Irrelevant! This is necessary in reducing bloat.

Python.
Gets shit done and looks cute.

Mine's Cee plu-pl.. C pl+ ..
C plsukri JABBASKIRP T IKIJAVASCIPRTN OITPAKSJAVAVSCIRPTJAVASCRIPT

just learn js. since you know java and c++ already it shouldnt be that hard

C++ because I'm not a tranny or an Indian.

>because I'm paid to
this is the only correct answer

Why don't more people like Java?

Spring is the most comfy backend framework there is once you learn its massive API.

Jabbataski

Without language, there is nothing.
Without language, there is no humanity.
God used language to create everything.
Why be a programmer when you can do the same as the above?
Have you ever heard of Bouba and Kiki? Which is sharper?
Language shape reality. If you know the right keywords then you can bend it at your own will.
Why does OLOK sound corrupt and INDI sound good?
Why does bobpoppylop sound fluffy and killz sound very sharp?

Yes this is like matrix-tier.
Now you know, now they know you know, now your world will never be the same.

C+= (C plus equality, best program language of all time)

I like BBC BASIC and C, but I don't want to say that I have a favourite. I like them both for different reasons.

>I like bbc
We know

Attached: ww.jpg (500x436, 31K)

I forgot to mention why, BASIC is fun and convenient, C is good for stuff that needs to run fast

>bbc

>VS + Resharper, best IDE
just use Rider, wtf

Kotlin
Best language for the JVM

C for algorithms
Python to implement

Nenecchi is my role model

Python is easy my favorite. I’ve learned HTML and java script too but python is easiest for me

I really liked 6502 asm.
Other languages I don't really like. I'm happy when they are "not too shit" and I don't use the absolutely horrible ones.

Haskell, because brainlets stay away from it

Why does it matter? Each one has its pros and cons

Attached: 1508436926864.png (292x247, 158K)

Has anyone programmed in Swift? It's really nice to use.

I get paid to write in Java with Spring, so that's what I know best and like. Though I'm digging C# when I find time to write stuff in it.

C
But basically anything not object oriented is fine to me.

Node.js (JavaScript)
>fast as fuck
>rapid prototyping with easy transition to prod
>flexible as fuck
>no types
>single-threaded
>JavaScript
Cons:
>trillions of packages that do the same fucking thing, and nobody does it the same way
>unless you want to write native modules in cpp, there's no low-level to speak of
>UI is relegated to running an instance of Chromium per application per running instance

>UI is relegated to running an instance of Chromium per application per running instance
gtk+ bindings when?

C++
>i can fuck around as much as i want with templates and operators lol

Java, i love it for reasons most people hate it for.
>semicolons
>the formatting is wonderful
>works on everything
>simple when you need it to be simple
>newer code is fully compatible with legacy code
cons:
>slow
>quickly becoming outdated
>pajeet-tier language

SAP ABAP because i earn money with it.

Clojure
>functional
>practical lisp
>powered by the jvm
>compiles to javascript => full stack development in one language
>extendable

Cons:
>No tail call optimizations (jvm's fault)

Kotlin does tail call recursion on the JVM

Is it not automatic, you have to make an annotation for the compiler. Same for clojure.

>They all suck
Maybe try something other than Rust?

yeah i use it for work. it's not bad, definitely something I can't complain about having to use.
