There are a few over the years... There was one white one guy who was born in SA (white looking and red hair) who was worried about being granted a security clearance.
I'm wondering if another person currently at work was born in the US or not, but I don't think we can ask that. They have to share first. We do ask if there's a reason why they can't get a security clearance, but they aren't required to answer.
It sets up doubt with borderline employees that they aren't going to last here.
We have had people apply, and HR/security has flagged their application and tossed their resume. We terminated someone without cause because they weren't understanding the job (after 10 months) despite all indications to the contrary during their interview.
