Should be called Puppy GNU/Linux.

good for testing if a system will boot

This. You could use it for 30 minutes, couldn't feel comfy using it for longer than a few days because of the UX.

I have a USB in my keychain with a persistent puppy install. It's super handy.

I don't understand why it exists when so many other options are available.

Is it the smallest distro with a ui?

DSL by a landslide, coming in at around 50MBs. Hasn't been updated in centuries though

I use it on an old P4 laptop 1400MHz single core. Works really well. I can still watch youtube videos on it.

thanks that is small personally leaning towards lubuntu, thoughts?

lubuntu, like DSL/puppy, will run on just about anything that is from this millennium. dont have much experience with it and i have no idea if it's made by Canonical. If it is, steer clear and maybe go for Arch or Puppy since Canonical has been known to give your data away like candy.

thanks user looks like I'll try puppy

just used my netbook and no other tiny OS recognized my wifi adapter except puppy. i recommend it

Fuck yeah DSL!

Used to have it running on an old ass laptop with a Cyrix II CPU at like 300Mhz with 96Mb RAM. Had the whole thing running in a RAMdisk too, was fast as fuck.

i use an old version of puppy linux for file recovery.

when entire sectors get corrupted, for whatever reason distros made for recovery will refuse to read the drive, but puppy will just give you a message and let you browse the drive anyway with no drama

Most of the DSL moved on to tiny core linux which is basically DSL on steroid.
I think a basic install is around 8mb and with a gui its 20 or something retarded like that

TinyLinux 12mb

Install Gentoo.

cute

Slitaz. 48 MB and a little more current. Doesn't look like it's from the 90s, either.

I used DSL in a VM back in high school to browse porn. I miss those days.

onions

puppy linux or arch?

kawaii doggo :3

Have it on USB flash drive with KDE, prettu good.
Thinking of making sfs for pen testing.
