I believe they had a decently sized botnet to carry out the ddos-for-hire service and let the buyer ddos whatever they want. They took down our government ID login system, that is used to do your taxes (which they also took down our tax agency De belastingdienst (IRS)) and took out our mobile and internet banking services for a few hours.
whats the point in ddos-ing used as a illegal tool?
is it a blackmailing thing? or getting rid of competition?
i guess companies lose a lot of money when sites are ddos-ed / unable to be reached by customers
