Google's running its usual shit and killing another service I enjoy.
What are some good alternatives? Anything opensource I can roll out on my VPS?

Don't use google you fag

RIP Google Reader.

fare thee well
>free google apps
>google wave
>google reader
>iGoogle
>google talk
>google hjealth
>knol (lmao remember they tried to make a quora competitor when quora is a failed product)
>buzz
>dictionary
>lively (the 3d chat shit that apple and now samsung are ripping of a decade later)
>pages
>zeitgeist
>answers (yahoo answers clone)
and none of this shit will be missed

>tfw keep getting free trials of google music every year or so

Why are they the bad guys again?

Why do they run YouTube Movies and Google Play Movies still as two services? You can actually rent/buy on Google Play and they play in any YouTube console/mobile app with the same account. Yet they never publicize this.

If they stop allowing me to easily upload my own music these dickheads are gonna get dropped ASAP
are there any other streaming services that allow me to effectively backup my collection? (spotify doesn't count)

>let's make our own version of Spotify (with music videos as well) with YouTube's existing infrastructure!
>b-but how about Play Music's offline userbase?

>what is Allo and most of its predecessors
>implying Quora existed when Knol was launched and the latter was designed as a Q&A site

>spotify premium ran out
>get deezer
>sync playlist to deezer
>deezer downloader
>sync songs to GPM rather than copying songs all the time it auto syncs folder

free streaming baby

>tfw grandfathered on unmetered google play music mobile plan
fuck...

>implying

>thinks he will get that for life
>from google of all companies

top kek

it will get discontinued one day and you will get liek 90 days warning and that will be it

>your face when there are 3 different Google Assistant apps that have overlapping functionality but are all missing certain features from each other
Seriously what the fuck is wrong with them

except there isn't

You clearly have no idea how Google data hoarding works.

there are
Long pressing home
Google Home app
Google app/search bar widgets

And all of these further vary in what they do depending on whether you spoke to them or typed something in. The entire thing is completely fractured and a total turn off to your products.

first is the assistant

google home app is for chromecast/setting up google assistant devices

app search and bar widgets aren't assistants, just voice dictation

so why do they all do 80% of the same things and look 80% the same

lmao literally nobody used Allo, just like Hangouts, or Talk, or Wave, or Google Plus......

I hope it still keeps the user uploaded tracks there, I have uploaded over 10.000 songs.
But apart from that it was okay, Spotify just got way better over time with recommendations and features.
YouTube Red isn't even available in most countries, so what about this YouTube Remix thing?

>open google play and voice search an album title i have stored on my phone
>gives irrelevant web results and zero local ones
and into the bin it went

Does this mean I'm going lose my library of uploaded songs? I have a lot of songs on there.

Looks like better a time than any to debotnet myself. Any recommendations for software I can use to stream my music collection from a file server?

They're shit songs anyways jim.

>>iGoogle
Man, this hits hard.

OP here. I'm gonna give CherryMusic a try. It has an FDroid app too

Google has gone the Microsoft way, making its own Zune every time

>relying on streaming
>not using P2P or torrents
>not playing music from a 64gb flash drive or bluetooth from your phone
