Probably going to go with Xubuntu this time on my laptop, but the Ubuntu MATE team is god tier and for the past couple years they've polished their *buntu far better than anyone else. Ubuntu MATE made me switch away from Linux Mint on my main machine.

Anons. Lets not fight. I'm a big fan of MATE as I've been using it for 4 years now. To me, it has just the right combination of features and stability. I prefer it to any other DE. BUT... There's not a god damn thing wrong with XFCE. It's quite a bit lighter than MATE and still gets shit done. Just enjoy the upgrade.

I love Kubuntu, based on what I primarily do with my Linux Distribution, I should be using Studio, but I see no disadvantage over just adding the repositories anyway. I think I'll stick with Plasma this release as well, convince me otherwise.

MATE doesn't screen tear by default like Xfeces. You can change the compositor with a dropdown menu.

I don't "cling" to xubuntu, I just keep using it because it keeps working as intended. I tried mate once and it was buggy and bloated. Xfce is more stable and it's lighter.
