ricing up requires money?

>implying
A thinkpad costs like 100 bucks. Add some spare parts and you may end up spending about 200 or 250 in total. A Macbook Pro would cost you at least 500 bucks second hand. And even then, they are in completely different categories. Chinkpads are for technologically-enamoured teenagers who just discovered Linux, whereas Apple products are for homosexuals and technologically-illiterate (and downright idiotic) people.

If it costs you that much to rice, you are clearly doing it wrong

An Ivy Bridge or Haswell era Latitude, Thinkpad, or ProBook can be had for $200 to $300, another $200 of parts, and it will be a shockingly good performing laptop that will easily run for another five years.

>when that ends up costing as much as a Macbook Pro?

>another $200 of parts
Maybe before SSD and memory prices went up.

Bought a T470 and upgraded it with an SSD, and 32G RAM myself, cost $1200 total, even with the insane RAM prices.

>ricing
>costs
how ? It cost me 0$ to rice my thinkpad, only a few days of my time. If I ever intend on changing some parts, it will be no more than 200$ to upgrade RAM, battery and perhaps keyboard

Ricing is software related you pleb

Attached: Riced.png (1365x767, 352K)

So your time is worthless?

Jeez I wish 2 days of my time were worth 2000$

Why are you comparing the price of a 10 year old Thinkpad to a new Macbook Pro?

I own a T450 - 2015 edition thinkpad and it cost me around 400$
now fuck off plebmaster - learn to use proper OS

Attached: Cozy.png (723x544, 518K)

>real OS
>Windows with Chrome
>that overly blue color temperature with probably a 1366x768 TN screen
>still saving only $100 at best

>It's an old photo you faggot
>buying a laptop for the screen

I fucking hate stupid faggots like you. There's no shame in being a pleb who just wants to use the simple things and be stupid. But you're in no position to tell me how to do my job. I do engineering and computer science for a living and I can tell you majority of my collagues use thinkpads with similar setups. And linux is almost exclusive in higher STEM
I litrereally posted a photo of my desktop mere minutes agonow seriously learn to use proper OS fag

Yup I'm sure all those big companies like Google and Intel run Arch Linux on their laptops.

>Yup I'm sure all those big companies like Google and Intel run Arch Linux on their laptops.
they do - unix is the most widespreed OS in the world. You really are a pleb when it comes to these things

quora.com/What-operating-system-is-used-by-Google-employees
techrepublic.com/article/five-big-names-that-use-linux-on-the-desktop/

Not even him but stop being retarded he said Arch Linux, not Unix.

and I said that linux is almost exlcusive - I didn't specify
+ the links show google employees use Linux, I just mentioned the Unix thing as a fact. And yes I know iOS is technically Unix

nice brick

They use Linux on the desktops. The laptops are macbooks. Hardly "exclusive".

>SSD
256GB Samsung 850 Pro = $150
240GB Toshiba OCZ TR200 = $70

>RAM
2x8GB DDR3 1600mhz = $140

>AC Wireless
Intel AC7260HMW = $15
Broadcom BCM4352 = $15

So, between $225 and $300

>They use Linux on the desktops
you proved my point, goodbye

also - ISS uses both thinkpads and from recently Linux. Thinkpad is the only laptop in space and Linux is the only commercial OS in space. Case closed

Attached: ISSThinkpads.png (975x642, 1.14M)

I don't live in space, why should I give a fuck? Also, those are IBM Thinkpads, not the chinknovo ones you use.

they are switching to HP Zbooks
Only neckbeards use Thinkpads in anno domini 2018

>being this stubborn

I honestly don't give a fuck. Go and spend 2000$ on a laptop with only one port, i don't care. You're a pleb and you'll always be one. I enjoy my experience with utalitarian laptops and linux and I don't have to explain myself - as neither does 90% of STEM I mentioned. Only humanitarian and art faggots use Macs, but if you feel comfortable with it - so be it. You probably won't ever understand why these things are useful

Is English your 4th language?

If this is true then why are the Apple products better?

>when left with no arguments feel free to use ad hominem
Yes, English is my 4th language - alongside with Serbian, Russian and French

>A thinkpad costs like 100 bucks
Where can you buy a used Thinkpad for $100 that's not C2D?

ebay if you're lucky - x220 goes for around 150$

How many languages do you speak, american?

Hey, don't be mean. I study humanities and use a thinkpad.

You're a partial-pleb

Idi na spavanje Thinkfagu

Do you think there's nothing to appreciate about art and literature? Why do you think it has lasted so many years, and so many geniuses were interested in it?

moglo bi ponekad

nah I'm just fucking with you, I like arts and literature - don't be s o y

seems like i got triggered, sorry

So NASA guys are idiotic? Hmm...

The only one that matters, Abdul.

>speak one language
>shit on multilinguistic people for making grammar mistakes

It doesn't constantly overheat and thermal throttle. I'm not even joking, i7 4c8t macbook """""pros""""" literally cannot compete with 2c4t TABLET PCs.

>"After our one-hour stress test with Prime95 and FurMark (Windows), the CPU runs at only1.2 GHz, while the graphics card is also limited to just 400 MHz. Even though devices fromAsus,Acer& Co. also throttle, none of the direct rivals loses that much performance. The performance of the MacBook was much better under OS X, but the tools (Cinebench and Unigine Heaven) are not that demanding for the hardware."

notebookcheck.net/Apple-MacBook-Pro-Retina-15-Mid-2015-Review.144402.0.html

>"We had our doubts on the performance of the Surface Pro 4 Core i7 configuration considering the throttling issues found on the Surface Pro 3. Luckily, we can observe no major performance issues when under high loads. The tablet is able to maintain its maximum Turbo Boost of 3.2 GHz for both cores when under Prime95 stress and Unigine Heaven stress."
