I have question to all professional programers, what do you do in free time? Are you programming? Im asking because when i return from work, i dont even want to look at the PC.

Watch anime

Also, whats'a typical day like at work? Do you spend the entire day programming? (Not OP, just curious)

Programming at least 50% of my free time. It's completely different working and working on a project you enjoy.

It depends on the person. There isn't a typical set of activities that people do.

I program in languages that I find engaging and I study things that interest me.

I also play video games.

Mostly programming and some meetings. It varies.

Same here. I'm an iOS developer, I have side projects I want to work on, but by the time I get home and on weekends, the very last thing I want to do is sit down at the computer for another 4-5 hours.

Makes me want to die.

I program or play Witcher 3

Consider reading a book tho

I already feel like im wasting my time, i dont want to waste more of it

if you're going to be that type of annoying jew you're literally wasting time by doing anything cause you'll mean nothing to everyone in 500 years

If i wanted to watch anime, i would ask Im asking here, because i want those few professionals who post here to tell me if they have same problem like me, or im just fucked up

>if you're going to be that type of annoying jew you're literally wasting time by doing anything cause you'll mean nothing to everyone in 500 years
This, wish all nihilists would just kill themselves desu.

you're baiting. there is no way you're this brain dead.

>wasting time
>posting on Jow Forums

I work as an embedded dev, but write Haskell for fun.

To those who would like to program on side projects but can't because work drains all your energy: change your schedule. Instead of going to bed 4-5 hours after coming back from work, get up 4-5 hours before going to work and go to bed right when you come home.

I contribute to open source projects that I use.

Program, play video games, waste time on the internet and shitpost on Jow Forums.

If you're wondering if programming in your spare time is a requirement for becoming a successful programmer I'd say no, but programming as a hobby can definitely get up the career ladder more quickly provided you're actually producing something worth showing (whether it'd be inherent skill and knowledge about the tools you use or a successful project on some publicly visible git repository).

Then I'd be drained for work... I need that money so I can eat.

>Programming after working 8 hours a day on programming
Don't.

I learned this the hard way. A while ago, some fella told me to earn some extra money creating a webpage for him, so every day I started working ln it after work. It was useless, my brain was already burnt after 8 hours of work.
After one month I ended up depressed, angry and with an unfinished webapp.

I try to do small projects in my free time during sundays, period.

play games and shitpost

30% programming
30% meetings and clarifying shit
30% designing, googling and prototyping
10% slacking

Depens. Normal day - look at tickets, program, request info because feture ticket/grooming is shit, scrum. Sometimes some meeting with manager. Sometimes restart some qa server.
Before release we spend some time testing release. Creating tickets bug/improvement etc.

No you wouldn't. Working on open source projects isn't draining because you can go at the pace you want, you don't need to be as productive as you are at your job.

I know because that's what I do.

You ARE retarded

I program from work i dont have free time

I mean from home shit...

>what do you do in free time?

Mostly shitposting on Jow Forums

>Are you programming?
Hell no!
Way too exhausted.

Would like to do some personal projects in the weekend but even that is too much.
