Have you watched TV recently? It's all ads.

I do, I'll sell it.

I did back in 2007
it came with my Prebuilt Personal Computer.

i have one on my desktop, why do you ask?

Hey I have the same card

Attached: 2013-04-15 02.38.21.jpg (2048x1536, 956K)

That looks like the card I had years and years and years ago.

Why would you even consider this in the day and age where Kodi is available?

I used to.
But don't really watch tv these days and don't have a satellite setup any more.

I had an ATI All-In-Wonder card back in the day, and then later on I had a Hauppauge card. Neither of them worked well, but the Hauppauge card at least let me use the TV service in the college dorms to watch TV and DVR stuff. I'm pretty sure the Hauppauge card died after like a year and I threw it off the roof.

recently? it's always been like that
we just used to put up with it because of no alternatives

I've heard they are excellent cheap SDR receivers

I haven't seen one since 2002.

Attached: Protip.jpg (288x306, 12K)

I still have a couple of those, one USB and one PCI. But I don't think I've ever seen software for those that wasn't a steaming pile of shit.

ProgDVB was pretty great

Yep, Hauppage and wintv cards

Avoid usb tv dongles like the fucking plague.

Cable card tuner count?

I had one in the late 90's to watch french encrypted canal+ with meuhmeuhtv.
Worked no more since 2005 I guess.

Awkward. Wrong pic.

Me, an ATI All-in-Wonder card currently sat in an old P4 XP machine in case someone wants to give me cash to transfer their VHS tapes to something more modern.

TV is fucking trash, I considered getting one just for sports but decided hockey wasn't worth $70 right now. I mainly watch movies or play vidya now.

had one 10 years ago, was shit. made irrelevant by streaming anyways

there are streaming subreddits for every sport

There used to be channels with none-very few in Australia. Also Australian cable had next to none, only "Stay tuned for what's coming up next".
Would have been over 10 years ago though.

Yeah I used the same card forever ago rofl

Used one of those in the late 90s.
Tuned the VCR channel, recorded a film in my whoopin’ 3Gb HD, subtitled the heck out of it; replayed via my SVideo and recorded again to VHS.
Fansubs have it too easy in this day and age.

I've had a ATi All in wonder pro and recently had an Haupage capture card. Don't use them anymore because I don't have cable so there is no point.

So easy to cord cut nowadays.

My dad got one with composite capture recently to transfer his VHS recordings to DVD.

I cut the cord, got iptv and pissed I didn't know about this years ago.

Sonarr/x + torrent?

cable is freaking paid by you

Doesn't stop them being greedy jews and putting ads in anyway. There were as many as free-tv when my parent's cancelled it.

No. There's a whole "black market" if you will of people who restream cable. I pay $5 a month and I have every channel from damn near every country. Android box that acts, looks, and feels like a cable box. It's pretty cool

yea, though it's been around 10-15 years since i did
i didn't use it for much besides playing consoles though my pc monitor, because earlier cheap cards, which was what i could afford, didn't have integrated mpeg encoders, so recording was cpu intensive and tricky to keep audio in sync, just overall inconvenient, so i just stuck with VHS until my internet access made it feasable to just download tv shows
modern digital tv means an encoder isn't even necessary, since the data coming in is already compressed, so it's just a matter of dumping the stream straight to a file, audio muxed in and everything, so even a cheap tuner will be quite convenient to use

Use to, kinda sucks how DVR worked great on Vista MCE and now no software can figure it out. I kinda want to get a HD Homerun to play with, like how you posted a PCI card... (even though there new cards still suck and only do 1.0 speeds so new motherboards won't work with them)

wew, i have this Hauppauge DVB-T tuner, but since i moved to a country that uses ISDB-T, it's useless... not that I'm missing much, most TV channels suck.

My LG came with some IPTV stuff, it's kinda cool, reminds me of Pluto though...

DVR/NVR lets you skip...

some do it for quality (no compression) This might be easier and no internet required.

Yeah, I kinda want to get the HD Homerun to get a family member or whoever to let me steal their cable. (but not sure how much bandwidth it eats)

This is not like your standard Pluto or anything though. This is literally cable TV. All PPV Events all movie channels etc for free (well included in monthly fee)

Most TV's have an app that you can use with IPTV but you still need to buy the subscription.

Apps for TV's usually are:
Perfect player
Siptv
Smartiptv

Then a whole slew of paid providers you can find online. Many offer trials so you can try it before buying.

But it's pretty great to be able to watch UFC on ppv for nothing, or all NHL playoffs games for nothing etc.

Seems like an convoluted way of doing it.

You can still easily get DVD/VHS combo drivers which has the option of transferring from VHS to DVD.

-- oh yea, one of the reasons i picked up a card at all was so i could try to access some pay tv stuff, back when they broadcasted scrambled pay channels over analog UHF
it sort of worked, it was very cpu intensive just to watch, since it worked by essentially brute-forcing the video lines back into the correct order, my shitty machine couldn't quite keep up
dectv.galeon.com/readme.htm#Was

I used to but now I just netflix/pirate any shows I want to watch and use my parent's streaming account for sports

Is there a way to use it with a DVR?

My Android box actually has a recording capabilities and some channels offer "tv catch up" which literally allow you to go back x number of days and watch a show that previously aired haha. It's pretty sweet.

You can use it on a PC, create a tvheadend server and record that way. There's really no need for a dedicated DVR tho.

Yeah, buying a dedicated device sounds way easier. Plus on PC, you can edit, add menus, clear tearing, upsample.. chapters, way more crap then pressing play and burn and hoping it all turns out ok. (Plus tv card is like $20, what's this one use device you talk about cost?)

What I hate about IPTV is that they charge like $15 but only 1 user at a time. Wtf

What provider you using?

Area51 is $5 a month for two streams.
Vader's is $15 for 5 streams...

I just want to remind the news in the morning. What box do you have?

i was thinking of getting Vaders, but idk if i'll get V& if I pay with paypal

Honestly if you want local news, find free m3u streams or something unless you live in a major city. Most news stations air their news for free while it is on. I have the buzztv xpl3000 it's not perfect but it works. Other good box is the formuler z7+.

Try it, Vader's has been doing good lately. They have a decent app with tons of VOD and you can stream it in a browser, Android app, iOS, etc.

I used on to play PS2 games on my monitor. It was surprisingly playable with something like 2 frames of lag.

Also, pretty sure you can plug the m3u's into an emby server and stream as much as you uwant.

>V&
??

lurk moar

> Urban dictionary

It won't happen, and you could always pay with crypto or a prepaid credit card.

Hell one of the big iptv providers is being sued by Amazon, Netflix, etc and not for live t. Content only their video on demand and they are still going strong. No one cares about subscribers just the source and seller.

the card was kickass back in the days. great graphics performance + TV

too bad all graphics vendors got BTFO when nVidia came out with the TNT, and it's now useless since TV became digital.

I don't have a TV anymore, is cable still analog?

Used to have a great ATI all-in-wonder.

Cable still carries analogue channels in Germany (in addition to digital).

>NordVPN
Mah Afro-African slave!

I did back in 2003-2004.
Then threw it away 2004-2005 can't remember, haven't watch TV ever since, unless I'm at a friends place and they had the TV on in the back ground in which case I might've watched a few seconds.

Had a pci Asus TV box back in the day it was useless Nd I had to use it on w98
Some usb shit after that never worked with anything besides xp mce vista or 7
Aussie fta is shit we only got real hd recently and it's still shit

Cable TV is an aspect ratio nightmare. You have shit like HBO that crops everything to 16:9, then you have other movie channels which only use 2.35:1. I'm not even joking, I looked up the movies and imdb said they were 1.85:1, the channels were cropping off the top and bottom to make it look more "cinematic." Now you have cable TV shows as well falling for the 2.35:1 meme. I enjoy watching shitty OTA TV shows sometimes still, even if they are mostly 480i still. I guess Youtube has largely replaced independant UHF and public access TV for most people though.

Used a ATI TV Wonder VE back in the day. Included software was a joke, but it worked quite good with Windows Movie maker. Still got the card somewhere. Got an ati all in wonder (original rage 6 based one) somewhere to. Do they even still make All in Wonders? I think the last one was based on the 9600XT, maybe, anyway that's the last one I remember them marketing.

Yes I got TV server with TBS 6285-tuner.

>Error: Upload failed.
Thanks Hiro!

Nope, I'm just the token white guy.

What are good free Kodi plugin to watch IPTV?

Also is there some way to easily pirate Netflix stuff outside of Quasar (torrents)?

It was my sole TV when I was a student in the late 90's/early 00's.
Student apartment was very small, so I saved room by having just one crt.

i have ausb-based Adaptec 1410 Gamebridge, i use it mostly for 240p Composite capture and ripping VHS to digital, where i give it a bit of a remaster and then transfer them to dvd (beer and pizza money hobby, helps some out that dont have a VCR anymore but wanna preserve memories).

>is cable still analog?

I think it still is in most places.
But some cable companies are switching to all digital, which is cheaper for them in the end.

What are you? A newfag?

More like its all aids.

i have an ati all in wonder in the box with the allegedly rare breakout cable. somewhere i think

Most free iptv plugins for Kodi are crap.

Most "providers" offer a Kodi plugin. Do your self a favor and search the web for two that were mentioned here before. They both offer a kodi plugin. Most popular kodi one is either gears or reloaded. But $$ than the rest.

TchiTcha !

I used to use one daily. Got one for Christmas in 2000, and used WinTV for a few years. Loved MythTV and later Windows MCE.

Now I have a HD Home Run, but never really use it

Me and my brother used to have a Sat one
especially with Vplug
we decrypted mostly everything

>recently? it's always been like that
When TV first came out, there weren't any ads. At least that's how it was over in America.

currently running a hauppage/wintv hvr-2200 series, plex and a 360degree antenna. Works great but the antenna could be better. Free movies and tv.

I had one sitting in a drawer for years. Finally built an HTPC and realized I could use the tuner only to find out shortly after that the cable company was going to require a cable box for all channels

based

youtube.com/watch?v=JISztra-eBo

no, there were ads, shit was all live though.
then cable companies came around and sold you tv
that was ad free because you paid for it when you could just get it over the air. then they started to insert ads.

and over time tv shows got shorter and shorter

thankfully so little is actually worth watching, got to love reality tv for poisoning tv as hard as it did.

>Who here has used a TV tuner card?
I have 2 of them. They're neat, but I don't have them set up anymore.

I've used a USB one. The USB ones suck balls.

I used to have one, though hardly ever used it. It was more of a cool novelty than anything else.

I have, it's fun. Needs a good antenna though.

Worked great in Windows 7 but doesn't work as well on Windows 10.

I used one in the late 90s as a kid

Used a few different PCI ones back in the day, have one just in case to plug in retro systems. Broadcast TV is dead though.

I'm seriously considering a capture card so I can get the TV shows I want, strip the ads and store them on a media server.

you can use the internet for that

TV is a Jew plot to weaken white society with racemixing, miscegenation, socialism, degenerate lifestyles, and support for Israel.

Attached: 1523851346484.jpg (1024x732, 209K)

Yeah just download someone else's work who has scripts etc

Used it to grab stuff off my betamax. That's about it.

oi do you have a TV loicense ?
