systemd is useful, and you can it's useful because it's in every serious linux distro. linux development is basically natural selection in software, good ideas(systemd, pulseaudio) spread and inferior or outdated ideas(OSS, traditional init, Upstart, Unity, a bunch of other shit Canonical has tried and given up on) die out and are replaced.
