Why did we give up pair programming?

Tired of carrying you

cloud development is leaps and bounds more efficient and less 70's

if a single person can develop a kernel...

It was too complex to keep monitoring the synchronization ratio.
Also the whole third impact mess.

:(

>hire two programmers
>they can't both work at the same time

It's a mentoring system, and nobody wants to mentor.
In some places try this with noobs like pair intern with another intern. This is disaster in the making + there is no transfer of knowledge because neither has the knowledge.

From what I understood, pair programming is where one is thinking about the logic, and the other is thinking about the syntax

Abstraction might be split between the two

He's jew, he made all niggers work on him for free.

because paying someone $90k+/year to watch someone else program is a waste

It sure seems very productive

why not just use git?

what's wrong with reality?

>Hire two pajeets to work as a pair
>Still get nothing of value done

that's not what it's for

that's not how it works

shitposter

that's not what it's for

but they do

do you even understand the words coming out of your mouth

if you work at a decent company you can get away with it.

If you have to "think" about the syntax, you are doing something wrong and are likely not suited for this field.

It's harder than just shoveling shit into the codebase that halfway works.

Glad that you ask.

As far as I know, some people bullied some people into killing themselves.

It has been a meme ever since that.

Replying to several posts at once is considered as annoying as well,

because it makes it harder to see who you're actually replying

to.

Only faggot SYboys reply to several posters at once.

Hope I could help!

Edit: Thanks for the gold, kindred spirit!

>referring to reddit
Another question, do you believe your own bullshit?

seriously though, we should have a discussion about this at some point.

reddit posts aren't normally formatted like that.

it's like fake, manufactured spergrage shitposting.

Of course, I could be in the wrong. Maybe there is something absolutely abhorrent in this formatting. however nobody ever stated why, other than it being "leddit".

thus, I would be very much in favour of making it a bannable offense.

Yes, although I'm going to get banned for having posted that.

That topic about the double newline has been a sticky on [s4s] already.

what the fuck is pair programming?
i hate coding while my screen is being watched and it makes me make a lot of typos from the nerves, why would someone make this a thing?

Attached: hmmmm.gif (256x256, 458K)

>what conclusion did they reach?
Unchecked dubs are murder.

It is one doing the shit, the other checking. Then they swap.

Actually one of the few good things about pair programming is that you see how everyone else fucks up constantly with the most simplest shit. You become less nervous.

You have one person who could be doing the work telling the other person who to do the work, and paying them both.

Some places also dont do desks with paired programming. You just rotate around 'stations' with a different person each week

You generally try to pair the best with the worst

Then you take turns being the one programming, the one who is just watching will often give input but it's supposed to be just proper human language not literally saying what to type in, so at times the person with more knowledge will say something like

"Okay well I know twitter has an API that can then make an api call and we can do a function that loops through that and we could console.log all the results and after that console.log the each of the usernames"

Dude on computer would then start trying to do that, senior guy would try to guide them through it and teach them what to do without specifically replacing the code on their screen for them.

The problem is the senior guy will get fucking nothing out of it

pair programming is supposed to be an excercise where you try things, come up with plans, bounce ideas off each other and rapidly develop complex algorithms.

it's something you do in software engineering.

it's not something you do in your pajeet level enevato wordpress theme customization "web development," or where the fucking solution is painfully obvious and it just takes work

At first I read
>Dude on computer would then start crying
and keked

>The problem is the senior guy will get fucking nothing out of it

neither will the trainee

the only thing the senior should say is "RTFM you retard"

This is exactly what HR says. In practice, it just doesnt work all that well. Much better in theory, then in reality

No it's aimed at "hard learning", the things that would usually leave someone new to something completely stumped (obviously a kind of bad example) but the idea is that the senior would be able to break it down into logical and understandable steps for the junior and walk them through it in a way they can learn from

Like when you go to codewars and see something you first think "what the fuck is this?" the senior would be able to help break it down and figure out the problem, where as googling how to do it on stackoverflow would just end up with copy-pasting the code

It is true. You go to the reply, and the ticket replied to 9000 people at once in a single post. You have to search for that shitty underline thing. Also when someone replies to him nobody has any idea which one of the 9000 replies he's replying to. You're dumb.

fuck off sperglord.

sage

When you teach you learn in the process. It forces you to pull out everything you know and sometimes you get to rethink things. Sometimes you even realise what you think you know is wrong.

>calling people new when you never have pressed F5 yourself.
user, I...

Not to mention the faggot multi-replier usually sounds like a huge pretentious faggot with his 'Imma an important person who don't have much time for you but still reply anyway' one-liners.

"don't compiled yet! you missed a semicolon"
wow teaching is such a learning experience

>not using phone and computer
Hmm. I believe you.

nigger, you program the way HR or your (managing)boss tells you to?

are you fucking retarded?

no wonder yall keep complaining about staying wagecucks. you can't get ahead being a doormat all the time.

sheesh

What a rational intelligent being would do, is to initiate a pair programming session - when the problem calls for it - with a peer of the equal and appropriate caliber. But I understand that a lot of you lot don't ever encounter these, so I know I'm fucking preaching to the cows.

>the things that would usually leave someone new to something completely stumped

if that's the case you send them back to school.

RTFM means the manual, i.e. documentation. if you can't work with documentation, I don't know what the fuck you want in the software sector.

if the company doesn't have documentation, then it's a shitty fucking company and deserves every blight it brings upon itself.

it gets me mad. it grinds my gears. the absolute fucking laziness and audacity. fizzbuzzed comes to mind.

Of course, if you set your business up where you scoop up underpriviledged highschool grads to get those sweet subsidies, then I can understand. Otherwise, no.

>Also when someone replies to him nobody has any idea which one of the 9000 replies he's replying to.

maybe use quotes then, to know what the fuck you're responding to. that's what they're for, before they became le epic maymay makers

if you can't handle threads and need comments, i can suggest reddit. it only takes a second to sign up, and they don't even check the email!

I called you on your bullshit, defend yourself. there is nothing else for me to say. I'll concede it was a little pretentious. doesn't change the fact your position is wrong, or stupid.

Wow yes what a great idea, rather than spend a short period of time to teach things as part of a stack at their new job you should just fire them for not already knowing everything.

Truly 900 IQ right here, only hire senior devs. How DARE anyone being hired expect help from anyone around them, disgusting!

How did you manage to cram this many fallacies into so little words? I'm impressed.

I use 4chanx's threading so multiple quotes makes it really annoying as the thread fucks off elsewhere and I have to scroll down to it and back up again, potentially losing track of read/unread posts. Not to mention how the multi quoter's post provides literally nothing of substance, which are usually the reason people hate post replying to dozens of them. Also,
>windows font
You're the cancer here faggot.

It's not the format brainlet, it's the compulsive need to hit enter after every fucking sentence. Combined with the double newline it makes it much harder and more time consuming to read your post.

It is a fad that is just wasting money. Hopefully sooner than later the lack of productivity by at least half will finally get noticed.

Why do that when there's Git?
