yeah nah. I don't want tranny aids software on my machine

Buying a T430. Can I replace the aftermarket battery with the one from my T410?

My T520 is pretty fucking big and heavy. I want to go back in time to 2011 or whenever and slap myself, I should have bought a T420 instead.

Save up for one of those modded T60s. Or just game at home.

ThinkPad 25
Enjoy spending $3000

Yes.

Superior, not autistic thread

Not a problem if you only play free as in freedom games.

retard

Is GTX 950 still the go-to if I want to shove it in my T420?

I don't know too much about the particular models, but I've heard that they (like most HP notebooks) have bad cooling.

>shove it in my T420
You absolute fucking retard. Neck yourself.

Will people think I'm a weeb if they see my japanese keyboard?

Got a squeaky clean X230. 4gb ram, 128gb ssd, and new 6-cell lenovo battery). Looking to sell it without too much trouble. How much should I be asking?

Give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he means his egpu cable

$300, retards who lurk this thread will buy it

I would

Show us your japanese keyboard.

wish I still had my Z60M

if you keep your laptop clean then there isn't a problem

Garbagepad

Why do girls who code do not use ThinkPads?

better get some anime stickers so there's no doubt

Because ThinkPads are not pretty and are too professional

Is Lenovo going in the right direction finally?

>T480
>Whole back cover removes in one piece, can access and remove every component without having to remove unnecessary stuff

I can't wait for 5 years from now when these things are $300 give or take.

>2018
>we STILL dont live in the era of laptops you can freely tinker with

It's certainly appealing, but it affects build quality. Most people don't and shouldn't need to replace anything other than the ram and maybe storage. Certainly not often enough to warrant this feature.

but look how easy it would be to clean the fan.

It is weaker, but it is still quite serviceable. Acer-tier stuff.

I don't smoke indoors or use my laptop in bed. By the looks of it, all the screws it takes to remove the back panel and fan (+heatpipes? They look like one piece, or at least overlapping) is about the same amount of effort as cleaning the fan on my x230 give or take some time.
This is just one of those things that look better on paper for consumers and investors.
>"Look how easy it is to take apart! This will save the repair guy time to fix my computer and save me money from the time it would've taken on any other device."

Here it is.
It looks cool I guess, but the weird layout and micro penis sized spacebar aren't so nice to use.
I don't really want it anymore desu, so I'm probably gonna sell it for $300, retards who lurk this thread will buy it, right ?

Pathetic.

Yes. Step on me with your insulting words. Call me pathetic again.

Should I update the bios?

Yes I am!
I also think the image you posted is great.
I like how the artist captured their personalities perfectly with the feet and everything.

I got a x220 with an i7 and 8gb of ram like 2 months ago so I can use it to learn to program away from distractions.
The battery lasts 15 minutes on a full charge if I'm lucky, is that normal?

Are there any upcoming sales that could be combined with the perks discount? Would 4th of July be the soonest one?

I have a 5 year shitty HP laptop and looking to get a thinkpad. In my third world shithole, good used ones are hard to come by so I think I'll get a brand new one. Options :
1) Thinkpad E470 : i5 + 16gigs + 250gb ssd of 1366x768 for $1050
2) Thinkpad T470 : i7 + 16gb ram + 250gb ssd + full hd for $1650

I would prefer getting the lower cost e470, but how easy it to upgrade to a full hd screen? And how good is the linux support?

not him but here's mine, thanks to the other weeb that recommended jp keyboards a few threads back

me either, I have a 1.5~ key wide shiny spot on most of my other spacebars anyway

laptop is comfy, windows just werks

deal with it nerd

a ton of distros just werk u autismo, especially with a T60
libreboot that bitch and pop Kubuntu, Arch or Gentoo on it, it's ridiculously easy

My t420s suddenly stop being able to connect to the internet. I've swapped out the network card with my t420 and it still didnt work, and the hardware switch seems alright. Could it just be an electrical problem or something? Really lame using this with a network usb on it.

X230 has the bigger expresscard54 slot.
But an expresscard34 card should fit in well if I just have some piece of plastic to hold the smaller adapter in the bigger slot, right?

wew i honestly had no idea
guess ill try those out
thanks based Stallman poster

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1920x1080, 87K)

But surely the bigger screen and resolution is worth it? Was considering between that and an X230, I'm concerned that a smaller resolution means I'd have to alt tab a lot.

>I want a big screen
>that means either a T520 or X220

Meant for

The good old debate between portability and usability

x220 with egpu?

the w540 is ~600 w/ a 15 inch 3k IPS display

After using my T440p for 3 months, I actually like the buttonless clickpad.
Not as nice as the T450 touchpad but not the abomination people say it is.
I think most of the problems with it can be solved by uninstalling its driver.

The *40's touchpad is a good touchpad if you want to use a touchpad, however it's a massive hindrance worse than cancer if you want to use the trackpoint.

I got used to the trackpoint alone with the touchpad disabled before getting my T440p so that shit was unusable for me until i did the touchpad swap.

Yeah, using the trackpoint is more difficult than it should be with the stock Tx40 pad.
At first I was middle clicking a lot by mistake when I meant to left click.
Now I know where to press to register a left click, but that shouldn't be something you have to learn.
I probably should have done what you did and replace the pad right away, but my unit had worse issues than that when I got it (dead screen, dying HDD, overheating) so I fixed those first.

i have a 4GB RAM stick from an old laptop, should i use it even if it's a 10600 and my tp has 2x2GB 12800?

>Have T430
>Struggles to play YouTube videos these days
>Do optirun mpv [url]
>NVIDIA kicks in yo
I'm really glad I ordered mine with this. I bought it new and custom, and as this has got me through college, it's mostly an around-the-house media machine, and not playing YouTube videos is the difference between getting 6 years to 8 years out of this machine as my personal laptop.

purge lenovoservicetraining and dankpads once and for all
and reference coreboot sometimes
more ram > "dual channel ram" , especially if we're talking about a configuration with less than 8 GB
>T430 struggles to play YT shit
Total meme, only 4K vids are too much for a dual core igpu (not enough bandwidth)
yet again 1080p/FHD works just fine
upgrading to an i7 QM would have been more respectable
with meme mpv you're probably triggering the bestvideo+bestaudio meme config
a "fire hazard edition" dgpu does not belong to a business laptop

720p30 vids were struggling. I haven't tested 4k60, but 4k30 works fine on the NVIDIA GPU.

>meme
>meme
>firehazard
I wish you said that before I read your previous statements so that I'd know you're talking out of your ass.

>720p30 vids were struggling
you're the one talking out of his ass here.

>tfw using the trackpoint finally clicks
So this is the power of the clitmouse

Attached: gaysexwithhatson.jpg (1284x980, 262K)

No, I'm really not.

Anyways, it seems like 1080p60 is more of a load than 4k30. Interesting.

>No, I'm really not.
Yes. you really are, I know it for a fact. I own more than one Ivy and Sandy Bridge, i5 and i7, and I've stressed more than one i5 and i7 with memeconfigs double-checking with intel_gpu_top and whatnot. There's no issues at all up to FHD, more than that and a QM is needed for enough igpu bandwidth.

>what is nethack

You know the drill Bill.

>t430
>using non-lenovo authorized batteries

It's been five days, and I still can't decide between a T530's FHD screen thus allowing more programs to be displayed on screen, or an X230 which is comfy and portable like a teddy bear

Attached: DDqFQN9WsAAbrhO.jpg (720x720, 45K)

with dosbox and emulators you've thousands of gaymes
your lifetime won't be long enough to play all of them

What is the best place to buy a 9-cell for my x220 ? eBay ? Or is this a good alternative ? I'm scared that I won't be able to use it since it is not genuine.

X62, T70, X210

Only thinkcucks **30 and above can't use non-lelnovo batteries

Thanks!

What're the differences between an X220 and X230 besides the keyboard ? Better motherboard?
For that matter, what're the differences between a T420 and T430?

t420 have better keyboard, can use unauthorized battries
t430 have shit keyboard, cant use unauthorized battries
only pro of t430 is, its screen can be upgraded to 1080p fhd

Attached: 1525349815790.jpg (900x876, 373K)

The iGPU is a huge upgrade, almost all the locks can be removed using software off github.

use the teddy bear X-series when you're naked in bed, use a T or a W series to intimidate people outside of your comfort zone

Attached: neckbeards uprising.webm (740x416, 2.55M)

both can have the classic keyboard
both can have Ivy Bridge
both can use "unauthorized" batteries

But I'm using a non-jewnovo chink battery from AliExpress in my T440p.

ur dumb

Where can I buy these japanese keyboards?

Are there any old school thinkpad with 16:9 screen ratio

Japan.

thanks brb

fuck the clit mouse, wanted to upgrade my laptop to the purism 13 then realized it has no clit mouse so decided again it

Any compatibility problems with using a microSD in an adapter in the x230

purism is hardly an upgrade
1.6k (1.5k if you pick just 4GB RAM and 500GB SATA III) for a 13'' 6th Gen i7... it's simply too much
it's just a money drain

my keyboards on it's way out, need to get into the habit of proofreading and I'm focusing on the appearance and metal chassis
