Is it one of those legit products that the chink factories sell on the side after disguising the brand, or are they putting stickers on top of fake cases now?

i got a question about those three opening sockets.
as far as i know, only two openings are needed to close the circuit, so why a third opening? for grounding?

Grounding for the non-electronic parts (ie the metal outside of your washing machine) so you don't get electrocuted if the other ones fail

Reminds me of my SDR setup. Boxes and coax cable everywhere just to hear some barely understandable shortwave station on the other side of the planet.

Jesus Christ

I once saw a sogwich thread on /ck/, back when archiving required votes from multiple unique IPs. Then that archive site went down anyhow. It was funny to me.

Earthing

FUCK

How do I convince my boss that this is a retarded idea

>8x2TB (CONSUMER) drives in RAID 5, acting as back up storage for virtual machine images
>boss complains about performance, but is also cheap as fuck so instead of buying proper 10/15k sas drives he tells me to RAID 0 them instead
>nags me for weeks on end to just do it even though I keep telling him it's a bad idea
>eventually snap, after all he does pay my wages
>delete all back ups (~2tb), reconfigure all 8 drives as RAID 0
>oh yeah, this server also has another 8 drives that were also in RAID 5 holding the OS and a few other things
>tells me to RAID 0 them as well
>fuck it, not my business, but if it crashes then I'm gonna get the earful from our customers why their VM's can't be restored (which happens frequently)
>back up speed has increased obviously but now I have to worry about a single drive failure on cheapo consumer drives

He wanted to do the same thing to the drives running the virtual machines in the other servers but we haven't got that far yet. Hopefully not because I don't want to see that rebuild in my lifetime.

reminds me of pic related

Keep archived copies (off site if possible) of all communications where you say it's a bad idea and he says to do it. When shit hits the fan (as it inevitably will), be sure that his bosses / whoever investigates this receives copies.

Been doing this since day one at my job, saved my bacon a couple of times.

lmfao i tried to save this and my browser crashed

speaking of jokes

Actually 8 drives in raid5 config should be pretty fast for backup. E.g the server has to write 7mb of data. Split the 7 mb into 1 mb chunks, xor to get an additional mb. Now write 1mb to each hdd.
Raid0 should only be ~14% faster.

Cover your ass before anything else, when shit hits the fan you can point to him.

>that fucking space ruining peoples evenings.

Sounds a little like my job. Can't get the funding to get proper backups and upgrades to network and file server infrastructure. Keep being told to wait until the end of the financial year etc. At least I get to keep the servers running a raid set up, although one of the servers did die recently, but the array was untouched and is now running happily in a new system, for now.

I watched the video. He explain pretty well how it all work, and he did try to stole the thing by picking it up in another shelf mind fucking the system.

It's the other way around really
t. installed Gentoo, got bitches

Can anyone explain this plug?
