>tells you exactly what to do in the error message instead of 'something happened'
how is this bad?

>implying something as basic as the lock screen breaks on any other OS

you're right, with windows the entire system breaks instead

works on my machine

Install a better screen locker
Install a better DM
Install a better DE
Install a better distro

How's a virtual terminal different than a terminal?

This is a terminal.

Attached: DEC_VT100_terminal.jpg (1280x1136, 198K)

>weebshit
your life should be broken

But that translates commands into machine language so isn't it still virtual?

How is an object that you can see and touch in the physical realm virtual?

no

That's cute. What distribution does this?

No, it's a physical terminal. It's actually there, it's a piece of hardware. Are you genuinely retarded?

nice tripcode tho

This isn't an object that you can see and touch in the physical realm?

it does
on any other OS, the machine just appears to lock up and you end up doing a hard reboot

here, it tells you what to do to bring it back up cleanly

That’s actually pretty nice. You don’t have to reboot the whole machine when a process crashes.

on ubuntu budgie screen locker doesn't quit on switching user so you have to type your password two times to go back

lxde for lyfe

>weebscum
>not only that but shitty incest anime character as a waifu
>not only that but chooses this shitty ugly wallpaper out of billions of other weebshit kuroneko wallpapers

At least it gave you a possible solution. In windows the message would be ":( Something happened. Collecting your data."

We'll never know, since the lock screen on Windows doesn't break.

It is but that's not a terminal.

NSA doesnt want it to break so they can keep running botnets and surveillance on you

>distribution
Pretty sure that's systemd.

What is it if you CTRL+ALT+F2?

but it's an anime website

ty some user gave it to me

rude i made this wallpaper myself

>Ctrl + Alt + F7
Ubuntu defaults to tty7 so that's probably it.

Then you switch to a virtual TTY session

A virtual terminal, a terminal that only exists in the virtual realm.

But it's a physical object translating commands into machine code the same as this:

LOL systemd, CloverOS doesn't have this problem.

What you see in OP's pic is a laptop, not a terminal, just because you hit ctrl + alt + f2 doesn't suddenly transform it into a terminal, retard.

shouldn't have installed a screen locker

How is it a problem? What do the other init systems do when your screen locker crashes?

So how is it a virtual terminal if it's running locally?

For me it happened when the screenlocker activated during an apt-get upgrade of Debian sid.

>something goes wrong

Back in 2002

>it telling you how to fix it instead of fixing it itself

What do you expect it to do? Just unlock the damn session when the locker breaks?

What happens if the graphics driver fails on GNU/Lincuck?

i switched to linux because i got bsod'ed every now and then. linux mint has no such problem. fuck man, if they just made a new skin for windows 7 and added telementary instead of making windows 10 i'd still use it.

Black screen, tearing, flickering, at worst you'll be brought back to CLI. What does Windows do? Say something happened and proceed to reboot your machine.

Probably fix it like OP by going to Ctrl+Alt+F2 and maybe reinstalling the driver. If it's really bad and cannot show anything even there then maybe it still works through another computer and SSH, if that was set up.

>using a screenlocker
>not switching to an empty workspace

Windows:
>something happened plus error code
>reboot to fix
Poo/Loo:
>le keyboard shortcut (implying there is another way)
>uninstall drivers(probably nonfree lol) and fuck things up even more (unstable system as if it was stable before, windows don't draw content or pop up, and battery hog) so you proceed to
>reinstall Poo/Loo and call it 'Distro hopping'
>repeat eternally

Attached: 1525392298109.png (782x1021, 330K)

OP is a faggot as usual, it happens on Arch based systems when desktop environments update, after locking it may crash. Doing what photo says unlocks session. You need to login from tty, it's a security measure, better than crash unlocking desktop.

>reboot to fix
>after reboot it tells you "reboot to fix" again
>in the end nothing is fixed

Idk about other init systems, but KDE handles it well.

Gnome 3 just hangs, and you have to reboot.

>probably nonfree lol
Windows is nonfree faggot, what's the point?

Most do, actually.

your machine also runs at 20% the speed it would if it were running linux, spies on you, botnets, randomly updates shit "in the background", and has a shitty uncustomizable user interface.

you are virtually retarded

Where is your GPU you faggot

Never seen this. Which screensaver / "screen locker" is this, and what distribution? good old xscreensaver doesn't have this problem, not that I've seen anyway.

..the fact that it uses the systemd loginctl login manager does indicate that it's eeeew GNOME. Is it GNOME?

Aren't you a little bit worried that someone else will activate Wintodder installations using the Windows key aka "product id" you've posted in your screenshot? I've got the impression posting windows keys on the internets is a bad idea, specially if it's yours.

Can be KDE too. Happen to me a few times after a update, the keybinding didn't work so had to restart Xorg

Product ID isn't a key. Microsoft isn't dumb enough to put your key anywhere you can carelessly screenshot it.

>things that are only possible on lincuck
There is no point in your Gahnoo "freedom".
GNU utils and software are just for consumption by proprietary software.

It's emulating the functionality of a physical device dedicated to the command line aka a terminal. A terminal can't do anything itself - by definition it's just access to a remote machine.
Were you dropped as a child? This isn't hard.

That would make all applications terminals as they don't contain the hardware internally, they're software connected to a remote machine.

wat

Have to use both Linux and Windows for work.
Linux crashed because of a bad driver - spend 20-40 min fixing it. Everything works fine again.
Windows crashed because of a driver - better reinstall everything right away, because it's that broken.

Linux - apt install [app] or emerge --ask [app]
Windows - download and downloader for the installer to install an app. also downloads and installs 5 more apps you never asked for that are trial and start on boot and ask for money and your data.

>the absolute state of the Xorg desktop stack in (userspace)
Fixed it for you OP.

>HUR DUR LINUX HURRRR DURRR
Sorry it's just a kernel faggot.

Linux: Doesn't have a driver
Windows: Does.

Linux: Doesn't have an application
Windows: Does.

use xscreensaver for that.

WDDM2 have no backward compatibility.

>error happens
>lock screen breaks out of all fucking things
>specifically instruct the user to go open the terminal and put in a command

Is this really the most "graceful" way to handle software crashes on Linux installations? Make the user manually fix it?

I guess this certainly is the OS that's only for """""smart""""" people.

Link to wallpaper? At least anime and name of character?

>What do the other init systems do when your screen locker crashes?
Nothing, because screen locker is not a part of any init system.

Literally

how do you even manage to breathe on your own?

Mum looks like she got hit by a train right after being shit out of her mom.

Yes. What are you implying? That I should reverse image search for wallpaper that is covered by windows (search fails on such) and apparently is made by user meaning it is even less likely to be on net.

Or are you implying I should find character name myself? Oh I did find it. Fucking reason I asked for it again is so that there would be more replies that would maybe draw attention of wallpaper owner and he would post it.

What I am trying yo say - if you have nothing good to post - fuck off newfag.

No shit Sherlock but it's the job of init systems to get daemons running. Are you saying that the other inits just unlocks your session when your locker crashes? Sounds horrible.

do it in this order

>it's the job of init systems to get daemons running.
Your screen locker is a separate demon?
If so, read how it works, I'm kinda curious myself.
Never had anything like picrel happen to me.

I'd suspect that
1. It won't crash
2. It will restart the locker in locked state

>all these replies and no 'reply to this post or your mothership will die in her sleep tonight' in the image

Wait.
Does it mean that uses needs root privileges to logged into user account now?

Hahahahaha. And people are why systemD is shit.

You're the newfag if you don't know the character. It's like if someone told you they don't know who goku is.

Don't have anything good to post - go back to lurking kid.

I'm implying that even without knowing anything about the character, I reverse image searched it and found the wallpaper on another thread where the same poster posted his desktop and someone asked for his wpp. In less than a minute. Stop being a lazy asshole, you lazy asshole.

You got lucky. 90% of time it is unique screencap that can't be found.
Also, such big thanks for posting link to that thread you piece of shit.

Thanks.
It will remind me to be piece of shit and play big and mighty if I ever help anyone on internet - because they are deffinitely lazy and not worthy of help.

I don't think you need a reminder to be a piece of shit

True. What gave it away? Me asking for help or mocking idiots being pieces of shit towards me?
