Faux Latin
'Code' as a verb.
'Passion' is a good thing.
'x scientist'.

We know, you found a picture of an old thing that uses the thing. Just because those in the past used it doesn't make it any less cringe.

Code has been used as a verb longer than you've been alive, and I'm a biomedical scientist. You're dumb.

"Coding" as in "encoding" is perfectly valid. "Coding" as in "coded for c64s" is okay because manually translating instructions into machine code is a form of encoding but programming is not just about being human compilers anymore. "Coding" as in "i'm a coder and i turn coffee into code xD" is what reeks of webshit apper here.
And you knew that's what he meant by that but you absolutely had to jump at him because "ackshually" and pointless technicalities.

Fucking idiot.

Backpedaling to try to qualify a statement doesn't make you any less stupid. "N-No you know what I really meant!" doesn't mean shit. Either write what you actually mean the first time you say it or fuck off.

I'm not the guy you were replying to.

Damn, if only I were speaking in general and didn't actually say you were him.

take a note from the chinese:
there is no difference between a noun and a verb

This honestly, r/unixporn-esque design needs to be stopped.

> what exactly is wrong with using code as a verb
Because it isn't a verb. English is not Chinese: one cannot willy-nilly use a noun as a verb.

Your qualification as a 'biomedical scientist' in no way qualifies you as a linguist. 'Code' has always been a noun; 'to make into a code' has always been 'codify' or 'encode'.

English isn't Chinese. Yet.

And yes I realise that languages evolve. But also that this evolution is a Hegelian dialectic of the forces of change and of evolution. I am simply playing my conservative role.

>just stop using (very popular language a majority of people use) and use it's really fast and lightweight! Look at these benchmarks!

>follows Unix philosophy

Get a load of this guy who doesnt even natural language, he thinks english is a static well-defined language. He probably thinks dictionaries define the language rather than common usage, which dictionaries merely try to keep up with.

This is getting too real

Thanks, I will!

To get to where I am, I actually had to study at the University level which required proficiency in the English language. Your grasp of language structures is tenuous at best if you think that nouns are never used as verbs, especially when it comes to emerging technologies. "Google" is a verb recognized by the Oxford English Dictionary. I'd love to hear all about how you're a higher authority on the English language than they are. Please go ahead, I'm sure you have a substantial response and won't just pull shit out of your ass.

Role-playing is for children and sexual partners, user. Stop imitating idiots and start beeing urself.

Seems that JavaScript is as broken as our hearts are.

People use nouns as verbs all the time grandpa. Just google it.

And most 'people' are semi-literate retards. Your point?

Language has always 'degenerated', or so they thought, in all ages; but in this age the devolution is bordering on incomprehensibility.

Consider the Americanisms:
> I could care less
> most all things
etc.

This is not gradual linguistic evolution; it's a complete reversal of meaning, or in the latter case, nonsensical jibberish.
