"Coding" as in "encoding" is perfectly valid. "Coding" as in "coded for c64s" is okay because manually translating instructions into machine code is a form of encoding but programming is not just about being human compilers anymore. To get to where I am, I actually had to study at the University level which required proficiency in the English language. Your grasp of language structures is tenuous at best if you think that nouns are never used as verbs, especially when it comes to emerging technologies.
