why do manufacturers fuck out and make their standards? where can I find such a screwdriver now? ibm goes fucking
Why do manufacturers fuck out and make their standards? where can I find such a screwdriver now? ibm goes fucking
That is a standard and it's called Torx
a bit overzealous with the 'fuck's there, eh? but anyway. that's not even an uncommon type of screw. you just need a set of torx bits (can be found at walmart for less than 10 burgerbucks)
why can not I make a normal mount?
Drill it out and replace it with a slot screw if it bothers you
why can you not make a normal sentence?
torx is good, it's a lot harder to strip than phillips
I’am China developer and use google translate
you have my condolences. get out of there if you can. but there's nothing wrong with torx screws.
You are in China and can't find a torx screwdriver?
Are you an idiot?
It's like saying I'm in Italy and I don't know what pasta is or where to find it.
> all major american brands of hand tools manufacture in china
> not going to a factory and knocking on the back door
> not paying zhang a few yuan to pull one off the line
Bitch, Torx has been a fucking blessing to mankind.
Even if expensive I refuse to buy anything else in my house/work.
fucking chinks
What makes it so good?
Oh great, it's an "if I've never seen it before, it's proprietary" episode.
Fuck, I hate gamertards.
Good mating between scewdriver and screw, doesn't strip nearly as easily as flat, cross or hex.
IBM server drives with this torx screw have the security pin in it. So usually you need the torx screwdriver with the hole in the middle.
or a drillbit and steady hands.
Torx is fucking god tier, you brainlet.
Plus there's literally no excuse today not to own something like pic related and never have an isssue again.
>torx is good, it's a lot harder to strip than phillips
that's because phillips was designed that way to prevent excessive torque
what puzzles me is how everyone puts phillips everywhere like it's the holy grail of screws
it's great in the intended niche but it was never meant as a general-purpose solution to fucking everything
Bust some shitty phillips or hex screw heads and you'll know
Don't know about your country but here everybody's got a philips screwdriver or two. Some random person having something like this
is just unlikely. And I was in my late 20s before I encountered a torx screw and bought a set of bits for just about anything. There's no good reason to use a philips screw ever but it's the standard so everybody's going to use it for everything anyway.
On top of that you have everywhere chinese screws made from shitty metals that melt like butter just by looking at it.
Even just a bit of overtorque is devastating.
ace hardware has torx bits of every size you fucking basedboy.
bring part with you so the cute service grills can show you the proper tool size.
