Are you guys ready for when LxQt becomes the best desktop environment ever made?
>replaces LXDE
>kills Xfce
>kills MATE
>kills the bloated KDE
>kills the bloated Budgie
>kills, burns and grinds Gnome to ashes
Are you guys ready for when LxQt becomes the best desktop environment ever made?
no, I'm using dwm
>Are you guys ready for when LxQt becomes the best desktop environment ever made?
It already did.
>h
If it's so good why there's no default mint version using it?
what's the difference to lxde?
Looks like a Toys'R'Us operating system. Look at the tray icons and the folder icons.
>good
>mint
pick one
It's Qt based and looks way better
a hundred packages
Not tiling don't care
Stay out, autist
if lxqt is based on qt, what is lxde based on then?
de
duh
>when LxQt becomes the best desktop environment ever made
so never
gtk
See you in ten years I guess.
Even Lubuntu doesn't default to it after all these years.
mate and xfce becomes popular because of gnome3 bloat and instability, unlike kde that is under 400Mib, so only if you're a ramlet lxqt is worth.
speak english you chink
das windows :')
Does it support wayland?
Does it window tiling shortcuts?
that's what lxqt is intended for since it's the successor to lxde which was intended for the very same thing.
yes, i can't wait to uninstall it and install i3
That's the old KDE 4 icon theme you retard.
You can use a different one if you click Icon Theme on the Appearance Configuration you have in your screenshot you retard.
Fucking retard.
>Qt
I'd really like it if there was another complete desktop environments using Qt instead of Gtk other than KDE, preferably one that's more lightweight.
But LXQt isn't quite there yet.
i just installed kde minimal in my debian vm and it's eating 270mb at boot.
And then commits suicide|
>I'd really like it if there was another complete desktop environments using Qt instead of Gtk other than KDE
You mean the upcoming rewritten from scratch Budgie?
>kills Xfce
What benefit would I derive from switching from xfce (which I have set up to be extremely comfy)? Honest question - have never played around with LXQt or really read much about it.
Show me the filepicker first.
interesting. when is going to come out?
lxde is stable
>Budgie
>bloated
It idles at 450mb
wait until you see what LXQt idles at
never
they havent even started porting yet
that to fucking much wtf
xfce idles at like 300mb
Is it how finishes now? It was very immature when I tried it a few months ago. Probably will be my go-to DE for shitty computers where I don't want to use KDE. (Though for just WM openbox is still my favourite)
OP IT DOESN'T KILL THE ALMIGHTY DWM
theres also hawaii/lirios/whateverthefuck its called now, which is a qt environment designed for wayland.
and dont forget unity8-ubuports for as long as that lasts
LXQt has an aesthetic bird, but XFCE has a cute mouse.
>Can't even encode their own fucking logo correctly
Welp-
...
>It idles at 450mb
simply not true. but it does have it's issues.
>Debian Stable
LXDE is fine. Nothing to improve.
Your screenshot's unrelated
does it support HiDPI?
Xfce is migrating to Qt, they are the saviors of Linux Desktop Environment.
Maybe Lxqt can be used for tablets and meme ultra mini computers..
>Xfce is migrating to Qt
[citation needed]
they are working on it right now, look at their latest release notes
pics or didn't happen
(i don't love lxqt, i just hate gtk)
This is the ideal DE. You may not like it, but this is what peak stability. looks like.
LXDE is nice IMO. Barely uses any RAM and doesn't try to look trendy.
I've been using LXQt for 2 years already, werks for me.
more like
>exists
>lives peacefully with xfce bros, both being against the bloat emprie
>Xfce is migrating to Qt
My wet dream. Wish it was true. Hopefully LXQt will become functionally comparable to Xfce one day
>xfce team spends 3 years porting the thing to gtk3
>when porting is 90% done someone says "fuck it, lets rewrite the whole shit in qt"
i wish this was true
Yeah they've been saying that for like 3 years.
Python QT is going to be released soon I think, so this is great for that.
Utterly disgusting in comparison with Plasma
Can we start using DE's that actually look, and feel good?
Did they switch to kwin already?
Old screenshot. Change the icon theme, moron.
>Can't even encode their own fucking logo correctly
Welp-
In Linux communities, it's more common than you think
here a little rice in my debian vm:
file manager: dolphin
window manager: kwin
icon: breeze dark
theme: frost
boot with 215Mb
