Muh Potatoshop.

But can it play Crysis?

It's quite authentic my friend :^)

Probably but MGR:R is next on my install list.

DXVK is a godsend.

No, you wanted my excuse, so I gave it.

I hope you're enjoying that butter smooth 1-30 fps,

Pretty sure a Quadro M3000M would run DS3 at 60 FPS on Windows.

>30fps while playing, 25fps recording.
shouldve bought the new alienware with the intel i7-77770707kkk

Is this not playable?

windows has never been better than *nix at games.

are you a flat earther?

i have linux mint but im not sure id be able to configure shit like others do on linux but whatever. i don't miss windows.

Install wine staging 3.7 from winehq
wget -nc repos.wine-staging.com/wine/Release.key
sudo apt-key add Release.key
# For Linux Mint 17.x (Qiana, Rebecca, Rafaela, Rosa) run:
sudo apt-add-repository 'deb dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ trusty main'
# And for Linux Mint 18.x (Sarah, Serena):
sudo apt-add-repository 'deb dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ xenial main'

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-staging

github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases
Install dxvk 0.50 to your prefix.

Install your game in that prefix and play.

I don't play many modern games, but DS3 is like one of the few that I'd have to run in a VM if I'd go the loonix route with my next PC. But I was worried about RAM, how much could you dedicate to a VM with 16GB? 32 is too expensive and DS3 doesn't run well at all with only 8GB (I have 8 now and it crashes on startup unless you enable the pagefile).

Basically just waiting for that looking glass thing to progress/mature a bit. Even then, PCI-e passthrough looks like a huge clusterfuck that requires very specific hardware and software and then it may or may not work in your case.

what setup?
I wasn't running linux on my desktop because some shit software from work and banking that I needed but I managed to get them both running last week on my linux laptop so finally only games are what's keeping me from nuking the desktop once and for all.
Want to run Overwatch and other blizzard games and probably Battlefield 3/4/1 too since I play regularly with my friends

How are you running this? Wine? Teach me the ways sensei

He's on openSUSE.

Use wine. It's getting really good and vulkan looks to be the final solution.
Wine itself is C but dxvk is C++ so the autists won't merge them yet to make it a turnkey.

Having to use a VM is jarring in comparison to tabbing out and back as well as wasteful.
Less so than dual booting, sure, but still awful.

Senpai noticed me

w i n e w/ DXVK

yeah, did a bit of searching and half of the shit I want to run doesn't work yet on dxvk but it's looking good. Battlefield 1 for example seems to run pretty fucking good.
Then you have shit like PUBG that can't even start because it's so poorly made and with so much fucking bloat that it barfs a lot of errors and does nothing.
Seems Rainbow Six Siege has the same problems too. Fuck me for playing games and having friends.

>Use wine.
>Having to use a VM is jarring in comparison
shit my plan was to buy a gtx 1070, 2700X & 16GB of RAM then use my old gtx 470 for the host
Have you found anything that doesn't like being put in WINE with the DX/Vulkan wrap yet?

would be really nice never needing to reinstall (even on a VM) windows again

PUBG and fortnite because the anticheat is insane the wine guys are working to stub it out.
Everything else just works.

Overwatch, Skyrim SE, Fallout4, any new AAAs... And hopefully the DaS1 remaster on release day.

There is a framrate loss from DX11 to VK but there's no microstutter unlike DX11 to OGL without gallium.
I repeat for this is important: This implementation does not cause microstutter!
