Not sure if this is the right board but here i go.
If I visit a site such as youtube via https, my isp cant see shit except that im on youtube, but if i download the video, will it still download via https so my isp cant see?
> youtube > thinking he's pulling one over being all sneaky and shit with https Just wait until he finds out about ads that track you
Samuel Baker

well- also running a proxy (i never see ads on youtube or any sites), aswell as addons like ublock, ghostery, noscript, etc.. but my question still stands- will the download itself be via https?
it's more of a general question as opposed to support/help.
Eli Gutierrez

Henry Roberts

your friend says otherwise
shit man, does it or doesnt it?
Ian Rivera
Probably not because YouTube doesn't force HTTPS in all situations (I think?)

Google will know. NSA might know. What DNS are you using because they might know. Your ISP will know you visit youtube. >ghostery Jesus, still using that malware?
Noah Lee
I don't know
Jaxon Adams
https is a meme unless properly implemented OP cloudflare has MITM half the internet including Jow Forums go ahead check your certificate while you're here see it? >cloudflaressl.com
my isp's dns :) and i didnt know it was considered malware at this point
oh fuck :| you're 100% right.
im not against any leo's/lea's tho, i just wanna know if i visit an https website, if i right click and download an image, or if i choose to download a video... will my isp see it? does it download via https or ftp? innocent question, desu.
Jackson Moore
You look at the URL on the download It's very unlikely to be ftp Nobody uses that shit anymore But, as mentioned, https is a false sense of security in most cases
>will my isp see it?
If your ISP is Google Fiber, and the site is hosted on Google Cloud, most likely, yes
Nolan Moore
It depends on what downloader you're using. Most of the time, if you feed your downloader an https site, it will download also through https But what's you're point for asking about it? It barely makes you secure considering that you're on YouTube.
Alexander Gray
Get Wireshark and figure it out for yourself
Matthew Green
thank you!! you da bez!
im just trying to figure out how this all works, and get a lil better understanding of the basics, im not trying to evade anyone, i was just wondering how http vs https operates and wondered if i right click and save an image, would that download be http/https/ftp. basic question for a basic understanding.
heyyy, i have that installed, and acrylic wifi pro- never figured that shit out.. never fucked with it again.
