Is going to college for computer science a waste of time, or is it easier to learn programming in school? Will a degree help me land web page design gigs more regularly?

dunno mate I'm a neet myself

>web page design
>wants to do cs because of it
LOL i guess cs truly attracts brainlets

>Web page
Just use YouTube this that shit isn't hard it's just html and css JavaScript and WordPress at most.

it's worth it only if you want to work in interesting areas of programming, if you wanna do web page design it's not worth it

Check out freecodecamp.org
Teaches you everything you need to know in order to get into web development.

>Is going to college for computer science a waste of time

Yes.

>or is it easier to learn programming in school

No.

I kind of want to go to grad school for machine learning or something.

>meme learning

Just learn it yourself

This is you OP, if you learn on your own. We don't need more mediocre people like this. Either go to a top tier college to learn cs or choose some other subject

Sai daqui, Jéssica.

Tried, but i'm no good for self learning. Starting CS next year, i need the structured learning environment or else i don't do shit

CS is good because it immerses you into the world of computation, software, applied math, etc..., I'm about a semester away and I know I would be nowhere close to where I am now without having gone to school for it.

Also, university/college is a good place to acquire the self-learning skills.
I'm glad I went to uni. In my third year I thought it was a waste of time, but when I finally got to program something more than menial web framework tasks, I realized that I can easily come up with fun and neat solutions and apply data-structures.
Wouldn't have that skill if I wasn't forced to learn discrete math or data structures. And it's useful as fuck.

>CS
>web page design gigs

Nice bait post.

Do software engineering instead

I did engineering, and missed some of the more rigorous data structures stuff. Are there any good resources for brushing up on them?

hopcroft aho ullman alghorithms and data structures

Thanks, I'll read through it and do some of the practice problems. It's my big weakness in programming.
