It's more like a spectrum, I'm sure you're familiar with them

>When does a piece of software become "bloated" in your view?
As soon as it starts to have animations (games are excluded from that criterion).

>When does a piece of software become "bloated" in your view?
Usually around the time the project get a code of conduct.

when it's a 450MB text editor
Yes, I am talking about Atom

when it does more than what its name says it does
>init system
controls networking
>web browser
views pdfs
>web page
runs scripts

When its devs add a feature I don't want instead of a feature I do want

We're talking about the software, not its contributors

web browsers act like an OS

When it's complexity/footprint is unwarranted in terms of the functionality/features it provides.

>init system controls networking

systemd is not a init system, it's a project to provide a standard low level plumbing for Linux systems, and it includes a init system.

When it's size goes over 48K.

i consider all software to be bloated because it makes its users bloated :^)

this

When the developers start adding features tangential to the actual purpose of the software.

lol

once it can read mail.

>Every program attempts to expand until it can read mail. Those programs which cannot so expand are replaced by ones which can.

When it tries to do more than what it is best in its class at.

>social media features
>saves to the cloud

No real answers allowed.

Not bloated, just T H I C C

atom used to be pretty good when it first came out, but i've since switched to sublime. i tried it out a few weeks ago and i have no idea what those morons did to it.

Its a shame because its great editor, just with a lousy execution.

Atom + Vim-mode-plus is really fucking good, other than taking up a gig of memory
