better days

I had a Commodore 64 and cherished it.

did you jizz on it?

it's ok to admit that your parents were rich 30 years ago, OP. meanwhile I was happy with my 286.

I was 5 years old, so no.
I did find Sex Games on one of our many pirated floppies but don't think I understood it.

Deluxe Paint was game-changing. This is where I got my font-fetish from.

What? It was one of the cheaper options at the time. Unless we are literary talking 8-bits only.

I wasn't even sperm when they were a thing, but I love the music

I want to have a 1200, but i'm quite too poor for that.

I blew £350 on an accelerator for my A1200

I've blown over 800€ on my 1200 and that's not even counting the 1200 itself that I bought for almost nothing years ago.

My friend thought that Amiga was a console.

It's not exactly about performance, i just think they're pretty as fuck.
But being able to run Amiga games is nice too.

No wonder, the retarded Commodore marketing marketed them as a console for a while.
Also CDTV and CD32 are consoles.

500 can barely run any of the cool 3D games. 1200 still struggles. if you want to run amiga games on real amigas it's gonna cost you. emulating justwerks. and you can easily get proper amiga usb joysticks instead.

Exactly.
I would want the 1200 more for the collection rather than gaming machine.

He's much younger than me. He hasn't used computers in the PC war era. I think he started using computers after 2000.

Also there were only IBM PC compatibles and Apple in my country during the PC war. I myself never saw any Amiga and other PCs beside IBM compatibles & Apple. But I'm aware about them.

what did you do with your amigas besides vidya?
my parents bought it for my education, but i honestly never did a single school related thing on it.

Code golfing as in making awesome demos in an extreme small file size.

This is now an Amiga demo thread

I had one without Amiga OS. I was 10 and no ever bothered to show me how. :( So I had to put in floppy disks with games (had a box full) and type 'play caesar3' for example. I had a joystick as well.

>he owned a 512k A500
>then fell for the A1200 meme
>then he owned a CD32

>he didnt own an A500 with added slowram or A500+
>he didnt sell his A500+ and get A600 at trade fair price
>he lived in some shithole such as ilford
>his dads name was cecil or some shit

i love how the tile demos zoom in on one pixel until it's the size of the whole screen

Just let me greentext some nostalgic unclehate in peace.

I miss this time of computing. Such a large creative outpouring in so many different mediums.

I miss the time when it took 1 hour to compile my code.

Amiga, you say?

Fellow C64 (and then C128) owner here. I continued using mine all the way through high school (graduated in 1992). I don't think back then I ever understood why I'd want an Amiga, other than all the damn colors.

When I went to college and they had us all on a VAX system (with some scattered IBM DOS machines in the computer labs), I felt really damn sorry I'd gotten rid of my Commodores.

P.S. We need a Jow Forums for the over-40 set.

I know that feel. I use IBM compatibles and those Amiga games are prettier. Made me jealous.

What were the keyboards like on Amigas? I've never used one...hoping they are better than the awful C64 keyboard?

xkcd is such a faggot

Light, linear. Not terrible, but not great either.

The more pressing problem was that joysticks had only one (1) button.

Can you not read the fucking date on the comic strip?
