Just use vlc you turboautist

Is haasn going to add MRT support in mpv soon?

Mpc> mpv

You are too wintarded to understand, sorry, bye.

Nah, it's madVR > mpv d3d11 renderer.

VLC can't compete with madshi's VR and mpv anymore.

>no stable release since 2017

???

Is it possible for mpv to use madvr or ffdshow like mpc does?

Whats the difference?
Honestly asking, does it actually looks better or something?
I use PotPlayer and its absolutely perfect

>madvr
>ffdshow
No, and it's not necessary with mpv.

Nice post number btw.

How can I force my sub style? Even with ASS subtitle style override there's some anime releases that still has a cancerous subtitle.

Most of the time the ASS override works but there's always one that doesn't.

The ones that don't work are probably bitmap subtitles. Very likely if it's a DVDRip.

You're correct, imported the video file on Handbrake and indeed subs are PGS. Boiling down there's nothing that can be done then?

Short of OCR'ng them, I don't think so. And I don't think it's worth the effort.

Madshi will destroy igv, hanna and bjin once again. Tomorrow will be the end of mpv on windows.

It's only good on linux.

It's kill

Madshi on suicide watch!
github.com/mpv-player/mpv/pull/5804

Haha! Madshi is stalled with d3d9!

Math genius based build when?
Is it going to be fast?

Why did haasn quit mpv for libplacebo and vlc?

mpv-easy OSC is so nice

PotPlayer one is much better!

Kodi one is better!

Has anyone ever had a problem where mpv won't exit out of fullscreen, neither by the OSC or key-bindings? It only happens like 1 in 10 times but it's a little annoying having to Crtl+Alt+Delete to get out of it. I'm using Kubuntu 17.10 if that makes a difference.

stop using debian, retard

No but occasionally mpv doesn't load the OSC, so I wonder if it has an initialization problem

How to triple (3x upscaling) with FSRCNNX?
Damn, madVR is still far away better!

I really hope madshi will take over kodi dsplayer.

Hey guys, I'm adding DOCX support to mpv but I don't have Microsoft Office so I don't have anything to test this with. Can somebody link me to a DOCX document I could use for testing? (preferably one that's prose)

nvm I found one: calibre-ebook.com/downloads/demos/demo.docx

It's going to support just about every ebook format you can think of, plus some. I'm using Calibre to convert the ebooks into .txt and then TTS/ffmpeg to convert the .txt into an mp4 with audio subtitles.

This is what I've got so far (only supports .txt, no ebook support yet):
github.com/jgreco/mpv-txt

Attached: 1523461433304.jpg (710x295, 17K)

I wish we could hang you for this heresy

It's actually really useful. I've been 'reading' about one book per day since I got the initial version (txt only) working. It basically turns any text document into an audio book!

And because it's mpv, you get all the benefits of mpv audio playback (for instance dynamically changing the speed of playback, skipping forward and backward, etc. These are features traditional ebook readers with nominal TTS support don't have.) And it displays subtitles as it reads to you, which is something most audiobooks can't do.

I would rather shoot myself in the head and then hang myself by my balls than listen to an audiobook read by TTS.

It's a nice project if you want to do that, but hey.

After a few hours it doesn't even sound like a robot anymore. Once you're accustomed to it you can start cranking up the speed faster and faster. Before long you can listen to a book at lightning speeds.

WTF is this shit?

Is it possible to use googles TTS?
google.github.io/tacotron/publications/tacotron2/index.html

wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Festival#Manual_Voice_Installs
HTS voices

this is off topic and not mpv

I'm taking a different approach. You simply invoke mpv like normal: mpv whatever.epub
Then my txt_hook.lua intercepts the on_load, generates an mp4 from the input file, then has mpv play it.

In theory, but support for that is not currently implemented.

If there is a command line tool for generating an audio file from text, then support for that TTS engine can easily be added. If command line tool could of course make API calls to the 'cloud' behind the scene...

Festival should be easy to support. I'll add this.

(incidentally at least for English with the default voices, espeak seems to give better output than festival.)

For some reason, I'm too retarded to use lua scripts. I add them to the input.conf like the tutorials say, but they are never recognized. Is that something that just doesn't work on Windows?

When they finish implementing free version.

>Note: you need at least 40GB of free disk space to train a model.
Oh jeez, I hope they plain on distributing a pre-trained model.

If they actually get this to the state of being reasonably packaged software for consumers, this will be badass. I wonder how fast it is (I mean after training). Is this the sort of thing that will run lickity split on a CPU for on-demand use, or should we expect this to take serious GPU crunching whenever you want to generate audio?

Hi thread.
I've been using mpv on my desktop on arch and never encountered a single problem.
But on my debian sid laptop I get audio and video put of sync on any kind of file. How do I solve this?

Attached: ygttyd.jpg (1200x1200, 356K)

Do you think the problem is with your build of mpv, or with something in the rest of the Debian Sid stack?

I mean, Debian Sid is basically Debians "rolling release" testing/beta distribution, right? Doesn't it break all the time?

I'm not sure, might be one of the dependencies of mpv or the build. I'll come back to my main machine and update everything to see if it's fine there.

Is there a way to tell if mpv is running inside a terminal from Lua?

I'd like to util.subprocess(...) a text editor but I want to handle this case differently if mpv isn't in a terminal.

What tutorials? You just need to copy them to scripts folder.

how the fuck do you install it? github is all in chinese

Don't install it directly. Just rip it's OSC config out.

Potplayer is a joke.

0.28 on arch, fucking finally. gpu-hq is the profile I should use, right?

that's what the cool kids use.

guys my mpv came with a GUI did I do something wrong?

How can I hide the line inside the progress bar? It started to appear magically

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-05-12 19-22-54.png (878x90, 72K)

-script-opts=osc-seekranges=no

mpv would be GOAT if it had a good user interface.

no, it's a meme

It does. It's called the OSC.

The OSC is pretty good, but I agree - there are a few things that would really benefit from a proper GUI.
That being said, I want my config files to update in realtime before that happens.

it does, though

Hello JEEB! Nice to meet you. ;)

I listened to a few books read by TTS (Microsoft Sam at that, so shitty TTS) when I was a kid. I'd say it helped because I probably wouldn't have the patience to read in English (it's my second language) if the TTS wasn't keeping the pace up.
It also got pronunciation right most of the time, so it helped with learning that too.

What is the abosolute lowest cpu usage way to go lads ? I'm tired of hearing my cpu on my old x220 and it's not like I really care about quality.

Enable hwdec and make sure you're doing the least amount of processing as possible (scaling, debanding ect)
Focus on downloading the best quality releases you can get your hands on

>(scaling, debanding ect)
Actually could you please go a litle more into detail ? I have no idea what I'm doing.
Right now I'm just at vo=vaapi and hwdec=vaapi. The documentation says the vaapi vo is only for crappy systems ( I'm not sure if it means low end shit or something like poor drivers ) and that I should use opengl but there's no opengl entry in the vo section.

Video scaling is basically the process the picture goes through when being played at a non-native resolution. For example, watching a 720p video on a 1080p screen (or vice versa). There are some nice algorithms to choose from, but they can be quite intensive. The default is bilinear which is just about as lightweight as it gets.
Debanding is the process of "mixing" colours together, resulting in a smoother image (massively simplifying here...)
Basically, if you don't have anything related to scaling in your config (including gpu-hq), don't worry about it.
I'm not too educated on mpvs hwdec options, sorry. Read the manual and check the archives, I'm sure someone with an x220 has asked about this in the past.

i can't

which user shaders should I use?

ok, thanks a lot

I've finally got mpv 0.28 on my manjaro testing.
Can someone give me good vulkan config?

gpu-api=vulkan
keep-open
slang=en,eng
ytdl-format=bestvideo[height

I don't know why I get
Error parsing option gpu-api (option parameter could not be parsed)
/home/username/.config/mpv/mpv.conf:39: setting option gpu-api='vulkan' failed.

my mpv version
mpv 0.28.2 (C) 2000-2017 mpv/MPlayer/mplayer2 projects
built on Mon Apr 23 21:31:45 CEST 2018
ffmpeg library versions:
libavutil 56.14.100
libavcodec 58.18.100
libavformat 58.12.100
libswscale 5.1.100
libavfilter 7.16.100
libswresample 3.1.100
ffmpeg version: 4.0

Was compiled without vulkan support then.

I'm on ubuntu 18.04, thinkpad t530 with i7 3840QM and nvs 5400m, my vid config is
profile=gpu-hq
Doesn't have any noticeable impact in CPU usage when playing anime, which means I could use a more placebo config, anyone has some recommendations? Looking for a sharper result

Attached: 1496872349571.png (478x615, 155K)

How to compile with Vulkan support?

If you want high quality settings/shaders/interpolation then it's all about your video card.

Money.

he still contributes to mpv and he intended for libplacebo to be in mpv but wm4 didn't want it

Quality software

Attached: Screenshot_2018-05-13-22-20-04-647_is.xyz.mpv.png (1920x1080, 1.58M)

Is it still the case?

looks like a personal problem

Nope,its freetardism

Attached: Screenshot_2018-05-13-23-01-29-316_is.xyz.mpv.png (1920x1080, 1.46M)

problem is obviously with your video file or with your video driver.

Well we ruled out the file issue

Attached: Screenshot_2018-05-13-23-07-28-431_is.xyz.mpv.png (1920x1080, 1M)

if it's happening for every file for you, but it's working fine for everybody else, then obviously the problem isn't mpv but something else in your stack.

Damn, it's a shame.
I was a huge fan of madshi before he talked about making a pro/paid release.

Yeah hw decoding suck on this fone.sw decoding always werks on any phone.
My samsung s4 mini has no problem with the hw decoding though.
Mpv is pretty good.
But I keep vlc in handy, just in case
